Default This 1.6 is fun to rev

In my earlier posts when I first got the car I posted this car is a twister and not a revver. I take it back. Now that I have close to 2k miles and switched to synthetic blend oil I really enjoy stomping on it and feeling the light crank of a 1.6. I cant hypermile this car unless I am on a long freeway drive. Its just really fun to drive a small motor fast. At first I even write I was let down by the power but in no way do I feel that now. Its feel like every 138hp in there.

Yeah its a great little engine/car. Even since I put the Catback and intake on its even more fun to drive as you can hear even little detail in the revving. I find once you find the power bands its a great car to drive. Even with the automatic switching to the "sports mode" always brings a smile.

I agree. When I first got it, for the first month I drove like grandma, almost never above 2,000 rpms (manual trans.). Then I let my father-in-law drive it, and he let loose on the country roads. I was like, "Oh yeah, I can rev it up!" Very fun little engine!

Glad to see the "break-in" period start showing you some results! This is what I was getting at in your previous thread. This car is kind of like a new pair of shoes. You put them on new and they are uncomfortable. Then you get them broke in and man what a difference! Congrats! Has the mpg improved as well, or are you enjoying stomping it too much?

I am still around 26-27-28 mpg overall city hwy. Its not worth it to drive slow, just too dull.

Its pretty fun for a little car. Mine has come around as well. I just rolled over 10,000 but have been in it quite a bit lol. I still wish I had a manual over the auto but its growing on me.

It is said that its more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. While the car isn't exactly slow, it is still fun to rev. I'd like to get a lightweight flywheel at some point to make the car even more responsive to throttle input

That's interesting. I am averaging 32 - 34 driving mine around in a spirited manner. I have close to 9K on it now and the gas mileage just kept getting better. Maybe the break in period is a full 10K?
Wondering if your mileage will improve like mine did or just stay the same.

I have been averaging over 36 mpg, driving pretty conservatively. My last tank of gas I was in a hurry and getting on it pretty good, with ECO off and running the A/C most of the time. My mileage fell to 33.3 on that tank of gas - still pretty good under the circumstances, I thought.
