KDM, they are talking about radio display being brighter than dash lights. If they turn rheostat to comfortable dash lighting the radio is blinding at night.

Some confusion apparently. We don't have an issue with the radio light. It is with the Tech version with the 7" LCD nav screen. It has an internal dim option that is not adequate.

Anyway, I emailed Hyundai and got a sorry we can't help you but thanks for buying our car reply.

I am going to contact Transport Canada on the issue.

Humm…guess I am confused. I did not know the Accent’s had the Tech version Nav option.

I picked up some electro-static film/tint to keep the sun out of kids eyes from Canadian Tire. It looks like it would be at least a 50 percent grade.

I will post back if it works out for me. Perhaps i should have bought the Titanium focus that allowed me to fully dim the display...sigh....... : (. It was a sweet ride and had a sub and auto-park.

For comparison, here is what my modified version looks like. Note that it goes black at the lowest setting, just like the rest of the dash.

Wow! That's a sweet improvement!

...it should have been built like that in the first place

Open up the radio and add a transistor and a couple resistors.
I think I still have the details filed somewhere if you are interested.

I would LOVE to know how to invert the stereo display from dark text on bright back ground, to bright text on a dark background. I think this might solve the over bright display issue. Anyone know if this is possible?
