Just bought and installed an SRI on my Accent today and snapped a few photos of it
![]() ![]() So far throttle responce is better, an the car seems more peppier when starting from a stop. Also, the engine is MUCH louder. I had the OEM SRI on my '08 Accent and was used to that, but this sounds much louder, so much so that the accelerator, steering wheel and driver seat actually vibrate noticably. The rear view mirror also vibrates from the noise, to the point that the image is distorted slightly in the same way that happens when I have the stereo cranked up with high bass music. When idle or cruising there is no extra noise at all, and even if you accelerate very slowly it emits no additional noise. But as soon as you give it a little more gas it starts to growl to life and tends to sound rather aggressive, though does sound a tad bit ricey. Have already had quite a few people do a double take at my car when they hear it, mostly those with their modded Hondas

Sweet! Thanks for sharing the photos, looks nice and clean. Not suprised about the noise. Level as this engine seems to have a louder sound under gas even with the OEM air intake. Please share with us where you did you buy this. Do you have any brackets to support it?

I bought it at O'Riley Auto parts, and cost around $50 total. The parts I got were the filter(duh), 22deg angle pipe, vacum sensor adapter and 3" to 2.5" coupler. Took about an hour to install, but that was mostly as I have never done this before. Someone who is more expereinced could probabily do it in like 30 minutes.
And no, there are no brackets to support it, but the filter is large enough that it rests between the bottom of the battery tray and the side of that plastic peice in the bottom of the images(not sure what it is), so it's not free hanging, though is otherwise not secure. |

It's fairly simple, espicially if your a mechanically inclined person(I do watchmaking as a hobby), but I have never worked on a car before. There are 3 bolts holding the stock intake in, just remove those and loosen the clamps for the hose and remove then put in the new intake. Unless someone beats me to it, I can work on a DIY with pictures for it. |
