The place that installed the tire didn't have one, so I'm going to try it without using it. If it keeps throwing a sensor error, I'll buy one and install it.

If spare in trunk has sensor your tpms light should not go on. Our car has dumb sensors, not wheel specific.

I decided to go the route of a full size tire spare, that way I'm not relying on those pitiful donut tires. Picked up a 17" rim for $155 and a Hankook tire for $136 installed. I plan to do a 5 tire rotation every 5000 miles, which basically breaks even for longer tire life and buying 5 tires instead of 4.
Well, I think we can both agree that MS has some of the worst roads ever. We are in TX and pretty much stay within city limits...I understand your position, but for us, the need just isn't there. I get free towing from my insurance company, so that is a bonus as well.

I thought this was a spare tire thread but I just realised it's about a radio install

There's something about auto deactivating if there is no activity from the sensor with the other sensors being active. I have 2k more miles to go before I rotate, so I'll post an update.

This is sorta a radio install and spare tire thread since it started of with the subwoofer being installed where a spare tire should be.

You get a two for one deal with this thread.
