Hi all,
Thinking about upgrading my wife's 2008 Elantra GL, for a 2013 Elantra GL. My wife is pregnant with our first child and I'm curious, is there anyone on here who has a car seat(s) in the back of a 2011-2013 Elantra? How does it/they fit? How does the rear seat space compare from the HD to MD? I know the Elantra is still a compact car, but I dont think we could afford the Sonata, nor does my wife want to drive a car as big as the Sonata, and the fuel mileage isnt as good... Pictures, comments or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated! I know putting more than one car seat in my 2013 Accent HB would be near impossible, at least with me driving . We plan to have another child in a couple years, and I dont want to have to trade it in at only like 3 years old...

Yes I got my Elantra 2 years ago with baby on the way. Both infant rear facing and toddler front facing fit fine with enough room for normal seating up front. I also enjoy the large trunk. Not sure how it compares to 08 Elantra though.

One piece car seats fit better than the kind with removable bases. I tried to get one into my Accent, but anyone taller than 5ft would have been crammed in the front pass seat, I used the 1 piece instead for the 3 hr drive with 2 adults, 1 baby, and one dog. The one piece seats fit better in smaller cars, so the front seats don't need to come far forward. I would shop around for car seats and find the ones that take up less space. Too bad for the 2 piece seat, becouse that one detaches and transfers into the stroller.

Great, thanks guys! We already have the two-piece seat/stroller combo, so its nice to know we can fit a forward and rear facing in the back seat of a '13 Elantra.

Go into a Hyundai store and bring your car seat with you to try out.
I never owned a previous gen Elantra, but after just parking beside one, I can tell you they are completely different cars and I think you will be very happy with the upgrade to a 2013. Rear seat room is one of the things the 2011+ Elantra's are praised for.

I can't tell my experience about car seats , but I can tell that the HD is very reliable , good quality car .
However the MD/UD is way superior , better equipped even in the lower trims , more powerful , the transmission is silky smooth , bigger trunk , and looks very stylish . |

I think it simply depends on whether you want the newer, shinier thing. The HD was and is still a highly rated, all-around good car; just doesn't have quite the same panache as the MD. Can't fault you for wanting one; at the end of the day, it's your decision to make.

Ah, "panache." I like that! And only 7 letters, too! Perfect for a vanity license plate! Thanks, Holly. For someone that has to be at work at 5AM, your brain is still in top form!

I have to say, I really like the instructor. Keeps the class interesting. After absorbing all these words (written and spoken) all day, I feel like a dictionary.
