Oooooofff. Been there, done that w/ the Accord! I had a 1997 Accord SE Coupe and MAN. Worst tranny ever. Felt like somebody was punching the car on those 1-2 and 2-1 shifts.

It's a great car and in really good condition. She loves it to death.

But yeah, 1-2 and 2-3 shifts are quite harsh. Surprised it doesn't chirp the tires...lol. Especially compared to the Elantra's butter-smooth auto shifts...

My only beef with the car is doing the front brakes. The WORST PITA!!! End up having to do both front wheel bearings at the same time just because of the stupid design. Other than that, they're super-reliable and built like a tank.

Well I got it back from the Dealership and they told me nothing was wrong. They found no codes and could not get it to recreate the problems. The fluid was full and not burnt. They told me to keep driving it and try to get it to recreate the problem. Possibly record it on my phone for them. They told me since it still under warranty keep driving it until it blows up. I guess thats all I can do.

On a side note, I just got some new tires off of Tire Rack.com and had a freind install them for me. My old tires we Hankook garbage and were shot by 35000 miles. The rear tires were cupped very bad so I decided to get an alignment at the same time they were looking at my transmission and it turns out my alignment was covered under warranty. I didn't realize wheel alignments were cover under warrnaty but apparently they are.

Is your shifting problem still there? I am seeing a lot more problems with shifting starting to surface.

Mine has "hung" a bit in 4th a few times since my last post, but it has been so cold here (-10- to -20*C) so not sure if it's just due to the extreme cold or what. If it still does it when the weather warms up, will take it in to be looked at.

My 2002 Elantra was doing it all the time (it was 2nd gear) on cold mornings. On hot days, the engine would choke when getting out of the driveway instead... But with these annoyances the car kept going strong up until I sold it.

I think the cold probably has something to do with it. If I don't baby it for the first few blocks in the morning on a cold (-20C) morning I can get a real jerky 1-2 shift and then it takes it longer to get into 5th. It clears up after a few blocks and doesn't do it at all in the summer. Did the same thing last winter. I'll maybe mention it next time I'm at the dealership but I'm thinking they'll just tell me it's weather related.
