In the Genesis Coupe, sometimes the pump would click off early, perhaps because of the way the tank was designed, there was some backsplash or something.
Made more annoying by the fact that, since we don't have self-serve, we'd have to wait for the pump jockey to come back and re-initiate the pump.

I'm particular about where I get gas, so I've gotten to the fuel light and the blinking bar a couple times. I won't do it again though!
I'm also a 1 click guy. No topping off. Normally, when it gets down to 3 bars, I put it ~10.2 gallons. At the blinking bar, it's ~11.2-11.8.

Being a car guy, I now feel silly and stupid. lol
![]() I have ALWAYS topped up my fuel tank (tank and most of the fill tube, but not over-flowing) on previous vehicles and never had a problem. But now that I think about it and how the evap system works, can't believe I put that risk in damaging the system. From now on, I'm only going 2-3 clicks max when I fill up. This car has to last me a LONG time.

When I started pumping gas, they had short fat nozzles that tended to click off at least a gallon too soon, which is why people topped off. I stopped topping off when they went to the long nose nozzle. As long as you got a good seal before you started, it clicked off at the right time. But with that early long nose system with the flat rubber gasket, I saw a lot of people pour gas on their shoes, including service station attendants who tried to round to the dollar. Eventually they realized it doesn't matter with a credit card. It's been so long since I've been out of state, I don't even know how well the current nozzles fill up a tank.

weird that the manual doesnt say anything about the blinking light though. It sounds like it was an afterthough to the firmware...

I recall gas overflowing out of the filler tube and spilling all over the gas station's island. The attendant would have to grab a hose and spray water to wash down the spill. Otherwise, someone smoking a cigarette while refueling could start a fire. (Yes, some people are REALLY that stupid, lol).
