Perfect Audio Settings?

I just recently purchased a 2013 Elantra GLS and I got an aftermarket sub and amp put in professionally. I am having a hard time finding the perfect setting for the amp and the audio settings on the deck. What is a perfect setting in the audio settings? As well what level should my power bass be on? Thanks

This is really a matter of personal preference. Start flat and work your way up or down from there listening and adjusting.

It also depends on the source used, and if using MP3, how the songs were encoded.

also how you tune your amp. Another thing i do is put my back seats down(don't really have passengers in the back) so i get that sexy bass.

tip: if you have lots of bass, the sunglasses holder will vibrate a lot and be noisy so i put a thick piece of paper between the plastic where it closes. I still haven't figured how to stop the vibration from the plastic in the back, under the rear window, but doesn't bother me much.

Under the rear window I dynamatted it all as well as the underside just because, the plastic isn't as bad but still needs something to help with rattling. As for the sunglasses holder I had the same issue, I just took some foam real spongy stuff with tape on one side and just put it on the inside at the front and it got rid of that awful noise for good you could probably use a small piece of that window insulation foam tape stuff it's the same idea you never see it so no big deal!lol
As for audio settings it is personal preferrence but if your sub/subs are overpowering then you'll need to replace your factory speakers and add an amp for them, you'll get the best sound that way with plenty of adjustment. Your factory speakers just aren't loud enough to be heard clearly or nicely over your trunk boomin around!

Wow! The bass is vibrating the plastic and sunglass holder? And this is acceptable? So, rather than turn it down you encourage it and shove non-compatible materials into the vibrating areas so they will stop? I guess I have a lot to learn about sound systems. I missed that issue when it was published, LOL

I have an aftermarket system too (speakers, sub, amp, dsp). What you are looking for depends on soooo many factors. See if the shop will do an RTA for you and then you can get a smoother responce. Set the gains first, decide of amp crossovers, and then when you get everything they way you want it, then get the RTA, via head unit settings, which will be pretty limited but better than nothing. I've been looking to do this in a stock system as I have the professional equipment, but noone in the S Florida area is ponying up. If the bass is rattling you sunglasses holding area, you likely have too much below 80h. I know in my car it rattles most from 60-100h...but again, this due to my particular setup (amp power, speaker, location, box build, etc)

I added a sub box with 12" Alpine amp and sub out of my old car. I used speaker level inputs tapped off the rear speakers. I could never get it "dialed in" to make it sound right. I also replaced the door speakers with Alpine 6.5 to improve the sound. It wasnt loud enough after i did that so i added a 4 channel Alpine amp to power the 4 speakers. When doing this i also added an AudioControl LC7i to connect the speaker leads from the radio and convert them to 6 channel RCA out. The system sounds way better and balanced now. I dont know how much each item(4 channel amp or LC7i) helped with overall quality but i am happy with it.. I also had a rattle in the back deck...if you stuff a rag on each side of the 3rd brake light...does the rattle stop?

That's where I actually found it rattling recently, the plastic around the centre brake light was hitting the glass so stuffed little strong foam pieces way down under the black strip at the bottom of the rear window so they're hidden(no tint YET!)lol and seemed to help!

I actually only crank it up here and there on a great country song yes country, or if the wife likes the song playing!. The dynamat helps keep rattles down as well as keeping bass inside trunk area instead of escaping out through holes all through the window deck. In turn the bass sounds clearer and doesn't vibrate everything since dynamat is just that a sound deadener (rattles), I help a friend who owns his own car audio/video etc. install bay and sales so I get free help & tips as well as stuff at his cost so I just decided to put something simple in for now!

Your probably right I was playing with the crossover knob on the amp after setting my front and rear door speakers for as best sound as possible, then never really played with the amp too much after that I'll need to get my friend to check it out at his shop since he's the guy with all the training etc.
