Default Had Steering wheel changed due to peeling and...

I get in the car to go home and immediately notice that the steering wheel is now cocked to the left. I turned around and went back to the dealer (never got on the road, this was noticeable as I drove out). The service guy calls over the technician he tells me "All cars pull to the right". I told him that that was a load of crap on one hand, and on the other that I was not talking about pulling. He then told me that "well these new cars are electric assist steering and they don't have an adjustment".

After a bunch of back and forth, I was told that they would have to schedule another appointment and have a Hyndai engineer out to see what is wrong.

I told him that seemed to be overkill. Old peeling steering wheel was perfectly straight, new steering wheel is cocked to the left. End of story. Either the new wheel was installed wrong or has a defect in the alignment tines.

Has anyone else seen this issue? Here are a couple of pics driving straight down the middle lane of a highway. If I let the wheel go, the car tracks straight as an arrow.

Yep, something is definitely screwed up there. Hopefully it gets resolved easily for you! Seems like a new wheel might be needed though.

Oil change flunkie must have changed the steering wheel and not bother to test drive it to verify cosmetic appealing straight...

There is no "defect" in the splines,, flunkie not have old wheel straight when old removed so they could sit new wheel back on in relative position and snug it, then drive to see where it at.

There is a degree of production tolerance in spline clocking at steering wheel hubs in production, then simply center wheel via minor tie rod end turning to center steering shaft/steering wheel with rack.

Go back and tell them to drive and locate straight, mark it, and then remove steering wheel, and reposition, test drive, and tweak tie rod ends to finish making steering wheel look nice.

Hyundai Engineer my backside... take to another dealer and have them repair it and dink the goof ball dealer for repair (Mgr need to get approval from DPSM to correct the offending dealer mistake)

Awwwww heck naw! I wouldn't be driving my car ANYWHERE. Y'all keep it, give me an loaner and shoot me a picture for proof when it's fixed. PERIOD.

No sir, no ma'am! How are you even driving it? Ugh. Let us know what happens.

That's exactly what happened to me. They made up some BS excuse asking if I ran over many potholes and if i drive in the city? I said not really and they said I needed an alignment done which would cost me 100 bucks. I took it to my uncle who owns a body shop and he did an alignment for me and it was fixed. It could also be that the steering wheel was installed improperly, most likely inserting it crooked on purpose.

Mine was also straight prior to changing the steering wheel. It's another scheme for the dealer to rip you off. I am never going to dealers again unless its something needed under warranty.

why would they try to charge you for a front end alignment. the front end alignment is covered under warranty for 12 months, or 12,000 miles.

Interesting... I wasn't aware of that. How's that different from a regular wheel alignment? (I'm guessing all four wheels compared to the front two you're mentioning)
