Lightbulb Removing scuffs from interior plastic on new 2013 Elantra Coupe?

My girlfriend's purse (and shoes) seem to have scuffed the interior plastic on the glove compartment door. Does anybody know the best way to reduce the visibility of these scuffs? Or even remove them? I've attached a HQ picture. There's also some on the bottom of the driver side door from my foot, but that's to be expected. Is the plastic cheap in this car? I'm not saying we're not at fault, but the car is brand new and she wasn't hard on the interior or anything - it was just normal getting in/out. My previous car (Altima) never had any of these issues. The dealer did put that Simoniz coating on when I got the car - not sure if that applied to the interior plastic as well?

Thanks for any help! Here's what we're working with:

I've had the foot scuffs you spoke of. I keep an 11 ounce can of Liquid Wrench silicone spray for these kinds of things. (Home Depot, Auto parts stores, etc.) Shake well, spray onto a microfiber cloth and wipe down that scratched area on the glove box. It may not remove the scratch, but it may "blend" it in so that it's not as visible. The foot scuff will nearly disappear if it's a slight scuff.

Originally bought this stuff to keep my door, trunk, hood and window seals soft and pliable. Stumbled upon the scuff benefit quite by accident when I rubbed a light scuff off the bottom plastic door plate. Poof, it disappeared for all practible purposes.

Let me know how your results turn out. And tell GF to keep the purse in the floorboard away from the dash area, LOL. {good luck with that one, }

After reading your post a 2nd time, I'm puzzled why your GF's "shoes" were on the dash/glovebox door?!?! You gonna stick with that line that she was only getting out the car? Not a Freudian slip was it? LMAO

I plead the fifth in regards to why her shoes were on the glovebox

At any rate, I found the LW silicone spray and picked up a bottle. It definitely made a difference on the door scuffs - they're hardly noticeable now! For the glovebox scuffs, it was a little more difficult. I had to apply a lot more pressure and I actually followed up with a Magic Eraser right after. It seems to have faded them pretty good so they're not that noticeable anymore unless you're really looking for them. I think I'll wait a couple of hours and give it another go to see if it can get even better, but it's definitely a lot better now than it was. Thanks for the suggestion on the silicone spray!

Youtube is full of people who swear that careful application of a heat gun can restore damaged plastics... something about drawing colour out to reduce the whiteness of the scratch lines.

If you're brave enough to try this please post the results.

Pics!

And yeah, I haven't seen one coupe here in NC either. I'll take the exclusivity for a while!

Are all manufactures using cheap interior. I drove a 2013 Toyota Matrix and even a fingernail tapping scratched the plastic.
