So I go in for my first oil change @5700kms yesterday I've had the car since End of June 2013, so it's obvious I'm a conservative driver when it comes to my mileage travelled vs months!
.Anyways as most dealers first change is free which is fine but are they so cheap that they don't top off your washer fluid or check your other fluids even, i don't know maybe I'm being picky or they're cutting back due to the companies big mileage payouts!lol. I just figured anywhere else does that so figured I would've gotten some kind of visual inspection of things, I mean I mentioned that I recently noticed that when driving on the highway straight line for a bit when I try to turn the wheel slightly it feels kind of like a magnet is holding the wheel and a slight force is needed to move it! He just dismissed it as the Electronic Assist Steering no explanation why etc. just that's what it is, I've never owned a car with this feature so I have to take his word but I have to admit I'm not a fan of it if that's how it's supposed to feel makes me nervous that it's going to lock straight or something!lol Is this normal or should I push to have it checked, or wait see if I'm just not used to it yet as I've only driven it not even 6000kms? Some of you I know have 2011's since new and or have owned previous brand new cars, this is actually my first brand spanking new car. I just have to mention its all thanks to my amazing wife who insisted on us getting a new car and after delaying it for 3 months I caved, but if it weren't for her hard work everyday I would've never gotten it & the kicker is she doesn't even have a license nor intend to I've always driven and yet she bought me the car as a gift! I guess after 12 years of being together along with giving her a beautiful baby boy (now 10) she gave me a gift, lol just joking everyone (Em-squared) I know your a wife & mother and that you'd definately have a comment on that statement and I wouldn't blame you if it wasn't a joke my wife has heard many times! . I am unable to work due to Severe Scoliosis & Spineabifada which is a curved spine generally, I have a 52degree curve it's like a backwards 'C' under my right shoulder blade! I've had several surgeries but it's as good as its ever going to be, without warning my doctor demanded I quit working due to severe pain and future damage & after 2 years of arguing with him I had to give up an amazing paying job with Parks Canada and go on disability! . So I became a stay at home dad after our son was born as my wife went back to work after 2 months so I spent every minute of they day with our son, I wouldn't change it for the world! But everyone has this F )!d up idea that living on a pension equals being rich, hate to inform those who think that but it's the total opposite you just get by with the essentials and even medications (some) you have to pay for and any treatment you take part in not covered! Don't get me wrong our health coverage is good for everyday injuries etc. but long term healthcare for people like myself sucks ass, the goverment also takes 50% of my wife's earnings and she gets double taxed once by Federal and once by Provincial goverment yet she sticks it out so we can have our new car and buy nice things for our son etc. I love her more then anyone could imagine for her determination etc!Sorry for blabbing way off topic everyone I just had to thank my wife while writing this post, and it wouldn't have been understood the way I meant it if I hadn't elaborated as I did!lmao. Sorry! Pick of my spine with metal bar, not shown is the updated one with screws in my lower vertebrae. http://i1337.photobucket.com/albums/...ps438ac8d9.jpg Hope the link worked!

I did notice that my dealer does top off my windshield washer fluid. I'm certain the service attendant also checks the other fluids, as well. Of course, so do I. On a weekly basis.

This is what I received from my Dealer with my 1st. Oil Change (Free) I can't say if they topped off anything because I don't think anything needed it. I give all fluids a quick visual check weekly. |

When I was in for recent warranty work the dealer did a multipoint inspection and noted the results of each item. If anything needed attention I'm sure they would have topped it off. They will also wash and vacuum your car if needed each service visit. They also offer rides and free loaners for overnight service.
Quite frankly these extra little services will keep many coming back. I found the service staff to be prompt and professional when I needed warranty service then again for my mpg claim. |

Nice print out, they did a **** of a lot more for your first oil change! I mean they checked tire pressure it says but not condition nor depth of tread, I was under the assumption you were to rotate tires every oil change however in the past I never did it that frequently. I figured every 10-15 thousand k's and I haven't yet read the manual so my fault I guess for not checking, I did ask them at the time of my oil change to do the rotate but he says it's not included so I said forget it since I've got a nice warm shop with all the tools!
![]() So I can go to any reputable licensed garage to get my oil changes done and just keep receipts or stamp my book or what? I don't want to screw myself out of my warranty and I don't want to necessarily go to Hyundai for everything so what is the general practice in this situation I've never owned a brand new car w/5 year warranty just those ones for used cars and you had a book you had to always have stamped etc. if not your warranty was VOID not like they covered crap anyway!lol

Last time I was there, I told them they needed a large plate glass window looking out into the service area. Why? So I could stand there and watch the technician messing with Ingrid. LOL

I was extremely impressed when I took the car in for the Free Oil Change although I passed on the wash & vacuum because it really didn't need it and I was short on time that day, I was in and out in 45 minutes. I am sure I will take them up on the free wash & vacuum at times in the future. The dealership does have the best reputation for new car dealers in the area regardless of brand and is one of the highest rated Hyundai Dealerships in the Hyundai Network. The owner is a real pro, 3rd. Generation in the new car dealership business and owns a second Hyundai Dealership some 65 miles away but his office is in the dealership here and he is on-site 4-5 days a week. This dealership is "his" baby. I would imagine having the owner on site on a regular basis keeps the staff on their toes. The owner is very accessible and will meet with a customer at any time. I guess I am lucky to have a good one here especially after hearing some of the experiences from others on this forum.
