Saw the 2014 Elantra's in person today at the LA Auto show and I'm impressed with the changes with this refresh. Here's a few quick unedited shots.

They had the Elantra Sport on display

the tail lights looked amazing in person.

interior shot (only one I was able to take)
From the clock to the seat warmers was redesigned. The touch screen non-nav unit was easy to use.

Looks very nice overall. Taillights look great but the wheels could of been better.

I thought the very same thing! The wheel-well/tire scene needs...well, something, but not those, IMO. They just don't POP out at you. Wheels are the very foundation of a car's exterior appeal. The eyes should be drawn to them for more than a half-second. Maybe there's an upgrade. If not, I predict another resurgence in aftermarket wheel demand for the Elantra.

Taillights have promise. Headlights aren't bad. Didn't like the exhaust set-up. I guess I've been looking at Ingrid's cute little butt for so long, I can't look at another E's without feeling guilty. LOL

There is ONE item (not pictured) that I would buy and install: the dual view side mirrors with the convex upper corner on the outside edge. THAT, I do like!!

I like the headlights a lot and yea I have the exact same wheels since I have the coupe. Im not too big of a fan of them either, but they are not the worst thing ever. If only I could have waited one more year I would have bought the 2014 coupe because of the bigger engine and nice LED lights. Also, the shifter being wrap like that seems classier.

I think the single exhaust just looks so unappealing. This isn't specific to the Elantra either. I'd rather have dual(I know it's not true dual but for appearance sake) or just hide it altogether like the current Elantra's are.

Headlights look good, definitely jealous. As well as the taillights.

I don't like how they're getting rid of the blue display for the time at the top, and the temperature display for heat/air. It's not shown here on the sport but for the limited's, the display is black with white numbering.

Overall, looks good! I just want the headlights and taillights.

From Consumer Reports' article on the 2013 LA Auto Show:

"What is it? Hyundai introduced a freshened Elantra at the Los Angeles show with various design upgrades and the new Sport trim line added to the lineup.
The Sport and the updated Elantra Coupe feature a new direct-injection 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 173 hp. Both will have 17-inch alloy wheels and a rear-spoiler. Sport-tuned steering and suspension calibrations are also included in the Sport and Coupe line to improve handling.
The previous Elantra GLS is now the SE trim line. Inside enhancements on the Elantra line include available Pandora Internet radio and a color 4x3-inch LCD touch-screen display with rearview camera standard on the Limited and Sport and available on the SE. Navigation and a seven-inch touch screen is available on the Limited line. Also notable, Hyundai cites a long list of measures to reduce noise, vibration, and harshness.
Safety upgrades include hill assist, blind-spot mirror for the driver, and standard Blue Link and Hyundai Assurance Connected Care on the Limited line, providing concierge telematics services and infotainment for three years.
When will it be available? December 2013."

As a side note, they also have an article on the introduction of the Kia K900, which is a cousin to the Equus. Hmmm....

I'm going to give Hyundai a little time to roll out these 2014's. Hopefully, the parts department will get their updated information soon. I plan on going down to the dealer and do some snooping to see just what IS interchangeable, if any.

Common sense would dictate that Hyundai would want to offer these new 2014 items without having to go to any expense for retooling. Our new parts manager appears to be somewhat more cerebral. An improvement, IMO. If luck is on my side, I may have a slim chance...

The look of the projectors is fantastic, but having a GT in the family I know they are not superior light wise. Aftermarket HID's are generally crap without spending a pretty good chunk, and the headlights, provided they fit will also be pricey. I don't know if I could justify it. Now,if only those 2014 OEM Sonata HID projectors were interchangeable....

Been mulling this over. Of all the people that have ranted and raved over Ingrid, not one has ever said anything about the headlights lights. I don't know that they even saw the OEM setup. If they did, they didn't even comment. Not a peep. As to the car? They talked. Believe me, they talked. And I loved it!

Yeah, be careful or you're going to find yourself at the Hyundai parts department wanting some new headlights and wind up driving a 2014 off the lot. This is the perfect set-up for the unsuspecting owner. Just a word of caution. :excl:

It happened to me! Went in driving a 2011 to buy a $6 filter, drove out 3 days later in a $20,000 2013. Wasn't a total loss, however. I installed the filter on the wife's 2012 Tucson. Saved her $6!!! Somehow, life's little problems seem to work themselves out. At a cost.

Pardon my lack of knowledge but how is the 2013 model different from the 2011 model that you owned ? At my dealership this would not have happened because they moved the service and parts department to a separate building behind the showroom building , this would have saved you $20,000. I knew this was a bad decision for the dealership where I bought my 2006 Elantra .
