Default Question

So, I have been offered to trade in my Elantra for a 2013 Elantra or 2013 Sonata or 2013 Veloster. I was told that my monthly payments would stay the same as they are now. Not sure what I should do...

If you bought your car then yes monthly payments will stay the same but you will pay for longer. If you leased then your lease starts over again.

up to you.....payments stay the same but the year to pay off would be extened 1 year from originally planned

ex. finance car in November 2011 for 60 months so paid of November 2016

now you trade it in... back to square on
finance in November 2012 and paid off November 2017

this is assuming it is 60 months

I understand the financial aspect and everything, I am just trying to understand if its worth it. There aren't a lot of changes between 2012 and 2013 Elantras. I sat inside a GLS Sonata once before and got a "meh" feeling. The Veloster could be fun if they offered the turbo version... I might as well skip this offer and wait until my lease ends.

The only person who can decide is you. I definitely wouldn't trade up for an Elantra 1 year newer. If you need a bigger car then yeah get a Sonata. The Veloster does not really appeal to me.

I wouldn't do it. Lose a year of payments? Nah.

I would only trade if one of the other cars better suits your needs, or projected needs a while from now. Trading like for like seems wasteful to me since not much at all has changed between the model years.

You have been "offered" to trade in because, the dealer will make money off your trade in(you will lose money). You could trade in anytime, anywhere...that is your decision, this isn't a special offer that you have to act now on or miss out, dealer isn't doing you any favor here. The dealer has more to gain than you do in this deal!
