Default Side View Mirrors - Stolen

I parked my car in what I thought was a safe location, and when I went to check on it the next day, both side mirrors were stolen, just the glass part, the rest of the assembly is still there, but one is somewhat loose.
After speaking to the police, it happens often because it is easy to stick a flat head screw driver on the mirror edge and pry out the mirrors in seconds.

Does anyone know of a reputable source to get the mirror glass for a 2012 Elantra?
Is there any way to prevent theft like this? I was researching, and found something called Mirror Guards, but cant find a manufacturer for the 2012 Elantra shape.

Any help to prevent further theft would be helpful.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum that's strange as these items really have no value. Vandalism I suppose.

You can get them on ebay. Here is one link but there are probably more. http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...d=120910856473

I would suggest having a zero deductable on just the comprehensive coverage on your insurance. That way, you will never have out of pocket expenses when things on the car go missing or get damaged by nature. Never thought Hyundai mirrors were a hot item. I only pay a extra $14 every 6 months vs a $500 deductable, to me its worth it, insurance is about risk. Theft and nature can be expensive.

+1 and

I'm obviously not from NY; I have NEVER heard of that happening here.

Don't get me wrong, I don't live in Stepford. I live in a decent neighborhood, but it borders a rougher area. We rent from our church and the house is next to it. In this past week, someone put graffiti on the church, and I've also had cops in my back yard because someone stole some GPS device from a car (that belonged to a handicapped kid) and threw it on our property. They tracked it to our place but couldn't find it.

Anyway, I digress...I thought I'd heard it all...but apparently I hadn't!

The other day we parked our car just in few block from Canal Street in NYC, went for shopping and when we were going back with lots of bags I saw some d****s trying to open our trunk with screw driver...I yelled and he run away...insurance replaced the lock and I paid nothing....They stole them no doubts....In Chelsea area which is in Boston, kids having fun smashing mirrors on parked vehicles at night....thats a reason insurance in Chelsea is double vs other Boston areas...

Thanks, I ordered it from them recently, but wasnt sure how reputable they would be.
It was stolen in the Bronx, and after reading an article, its very common there, and if they could sell it, then its all profit for the thief. It is almost the perfect crime, because it takes less than a minute to remove both, and because they know that police wouldnt even bother investigating such a petty crime.
