Me personally I would disconnect the ground cable on the battery for 1-2 minutes. Go and start the car and hold the key in start mode for 10-15sec to reset and clear the computer. Turn the key to the off position rehook the ground cable to the battery. Start and drive the car and see if the Engine Light comes back on.

Dont do this right before you go into dealer or get scanned. Some codes take time to come back up after systems reset.

Well, I started it a few hours ago (was actually on my way to the dealer) and the the light didn't come on. Drove it around the neighborhood for 10 minutes and it looks like everything is back to normal...Phew I was scared for a second. Hopefully I wont see that little bugger for awhile

Scan it anyway, or take it to a major autoparts store (Autozone, O'Reilly, etc), they'll scan it for free. Your ECU will store a pending or past code, even if it doesn't light up the CEL.

My 2011 showed a "pending" P0711 code for a couple weeks before it lit up the CEL. Turned out to be a defective transmission sensor that was replaced under warranty (known issue). Even if you're not showing a check engine light, the computer will have a stored code.

That would drive an OCD person like me over the edge. I would be outta the car watching that the attendant didn't scratch the paint around the filler tube, or spill gas on the paint.

I'm the same way, my truck that I just sold was over 12yrs old that I bought brand new. The truck was in excellent condition, have pics to show but I wont post them here. When I listed it for sale on the net I had many emails of people who wanted to buy it. End result sold the truck in a couple of day for full asking price.

I'll be taking care of the E in the same matter, that's just the way I am.

Wow, still!?!

I was stationed at Mt. Home AFB in Idaho in the eighties and one summer we had to relocate temporarily to Klamath Falls, Ore. while our runways were being repaved.

We all left in a convoy of our personal cars and after crossing the Oregon line we all stopped for gas. I got out my car and grabbed the pump handle to start filling the car. The attendant came running out all freaked out yelling "Woah, woah, woah you can't do that, I have to pump it." Cracked me up.

You have some beautiful vistas out in Oregon, but I noticed several unusual laws like the no pumping your own gas thing. Different beats for different drummers.....

No you don't , it's perfectly normal and i am the exact same way, i've been called "extremely meticulous " by friends; when I traded in my 2008 Elantra that car was in such a showroom condition that it got sold the same day I got the 2012 Elantra ,and the 12' Elantra still shiny showroom looking in and out as well.

Understand. My 2011 Limited went straight to the lot once they put the stock # tag on the keys. No detail needed. I'm not certain a detail shop could have improved it. Maybe spray some of that perfumey crap on the inside. I'll take the authentic leather smell ALL DAY LONG over those detailer's scents.
