So the battery warmers sold at Canadian Tire are actually "battery killers"?

He said heat, not warmth -- he was talking about *extreme* heat vs. *extreme* cold. Extreme heat causes damage, but when it's extremely cold, your battery is less effective (even if there's no problem with it) AND your car requires more power to start so that's when you'll see the effects of that damage.

-2. Might not seem as low as some other people have posted on here but low for NJ weather. Felt like an ice box this morning. Might have to invest in some driving gloves.

Like my fellow Canucks have said, -27C shown on the display, Ottawa was the coldest capital city in the world today.

Okay, my northern brothers...I've always heard it said, "Cold is cold. Once it gets down to a certain point, it doesn't mater how much lower it goes. It's just cold!"

Do your years of winter experiences lend any creedance to that statement?

Depends how damp it is!! Dry cold as in Winnipeg does not feel as cold as damp cold.
Not that I have experienced the cold in Winnipeg, but I used to spend some cold days up Telephone poles in Toronto.

Thanks, Don. But is damp cold air, once it passes a rediculously low point on the thermometer still "just cold?" Can you tell the difference?

Same thing with "dry" cold.

Down here in the summer, it doesn't matter what the temp is after it passes 105 degrees F. Hot is Hot!
