Default Navigation System sucks!

I have 2012 Hyundai Elantra Limited w/Navigation System, hopefully someone has answer for this. My navigation system sucks, it locks up all the time, does not understand simple commands, very unforgiving if the voice does not work touching the nav screen boots me out of the menu, the maps are out of date. I have a Garmin that I bought 3 years ago that could be operated by voice which understood commands better than this pile of garbage and it gave me the proper directions and this was a discontinued model to boot. Another thing I have issues with is the GUI is completely out of date and its extremely user unfriendly.
In comparison to any modern Garmin or TomTom this thing belongs on Ford Model T. Sorry for the rant but this thing retails for 2k, does anybody have any suggestions please I really want to avoid the embarrassment of driving around this new car with onboard navigation and having an aftermarket unit on my window.

this is really sucks....thats a reason I can understand why ppl buy the OEM NAvi...you should go to your dealer and let them fix all issues.

This is the Navi unit that came with the Tech Pkg? If so, sounds like you may have a lemon. Mine works as expected. You have a warranty, take it in.

1. Call your favorite local Hyundai dealer.
2. Make service appointment.
3. Take car in to have defective nav unit replaced.
4. Enjoy your car and correctly-functioning navigation unit.

Also if it's having trouble understanding you and people you call on your Bluetooth are having similar troubles, also have them look at the microphone while they're in there. A few people have come through here with bum mics.

I kinda have to agree that it sucks, unless that I'm the one that doesn't know how to use it correctly but I have a hard time putting in a address to a place, for an example: The other day I was looking for a specific beach, I couldn't type in the name... I'd start to type it in and then it would list me place and give me a few choice of letters to continue typing but never the right ones! Anyone have any suggestions for this?

I tend to agree its not great.

The other day I knew the name of the place I wanted to go, but the Navi could not find it. I used my iphone to look up the address. I dont think I should have to do that.

Limited categories and the reminder voice is too frequent.

That aftermarket one mentioned here appear to be much better.

I bought an aftermarket Nav from Compass-Nav and it works better then my previous Garmin, with an 8'' screen and tons of POI, yesterday in downtown Montreal, I was running out of gas and in a few clicks I found all the nearby gas stations, added the closest one to my route and after stopping at the gas station and filling up, the nav continued to my previous route but from the gas station in bumper to bumper traffic it sugested me a different alternative route. I dunno if the OEM Navi does the same thing or is basic but anyway I love mine, I'm glad I bought it. There are pics of it in my garage.

Welcome to the world of Hyundai. They look great on the outside but they buy cheap electronics that don't work. We are having issues too with a 2013 Elantra. I knew I should have stuck with Honda. Have always been treated well at Honda but my wife liked the flashy look of the Elantra. Buyer beware as usual, and the dealerships only want to make sales, and not take care of problems.
