Oops, my question posted too late, LOL. Good for you. Glad the E is making the grade!
All three of my Jeeps were purchased used with at least 100k per on them. As expected I spent a ton of money on repairs between 150-200k.

When I first started browsing I was interested in a Compass or Patriot but never test drove one. Hoped in the Elantra and was sold. My Wife has a fully loaded 2011 Ford Escape and only drives 5 miles to work. If/when the weather is an issue she can take the Elantra.

Thanks for resurrecting this thread, folks. Makes me happy. I love hearing about people's past rides.

Cha-Ching. There ya go! New car and subsequent fuel savings offset the monthly payment. I believe they refer to this as a "win-win?"

My last car was a 95 Saturn SL1, it just hit 300,000 miles. Bought it new. No heater, no AC, transmission rebuilt at about 120,00 miles, put an engine in it at around 190,000 miles. When I traded it in with 312,000 the trans was going out again, yes they gave me money for it...LOL
Even with everything wrong with it, it still got on average 35 mpg per tank. Thats about 8 mpg better than my 2013 Elantra, but now I have a heater and AC....:-)

Don't need one down here. But you need A/C about 75% of the year.
