There is a tire warranty, it's just not from Hyundai, it's direct from tire manufacturer. With Hankook, it's not so great. Full replacement only if wear is less than 2/32", after that it's pro-rated based on tread wear (not a good thing if excess wear is the problem) and owner pays mounting/balancing fees.
ETA: and it excludes irregular wear/damage due to road hazards, collision, improper inflation, misalignment, use of tire chains, among other things. Last edited by talkingrat; 12-27-2012 at 11:33 PM. |

I recall my ContiPro's looking pretty good when I traded in the 2011. It had 26,300+. They weren't new looking but I'm gonna take an uneducated guess that I could have gotten 40k out of them without too much difficulty.

Just wondering with the replacement of tires due to wearing out. Is there any consideration to tire noise along with the mileage you would get on the replacement tires. Not a happy camper with the originals on now. Not really happy with the road noise period. I know from the reviews before we bought the 013 Elantra that there was "some" road noise. I didn't expect it like this. I know its a on going problem. Other than that the car is decent.

The axle stubs are bolted to the torsion beam. and i believe you can have some degree of adjust-ability by merely shimming under the axles. Though old man Hyundai wold roundhouse kick you to the head if he knew. But it may be a fix.

I have a 2011 Elantra limited with ~90K miles and will be buying my 4th set of tires this afternoon. I have bought two different brands after the originals, neither of them cheap, but nothing is giving me more than 25-30K. I had a 2005 Elantra before this for 4-5 years and routinely got 40K+ on a set of tires and that was without rotating them every 5K like I am doing for this car. It seems to me that there is just something mismatched about the 17 inch wheel and the car itself that is causing the poor tread wear issue. Not sure what I can do to remedy this except keep buying tires until I can sell it. It is a shame because I like the car for the most part.
