How much push-back do dealers give when trying to have this programmable option changed? I can't imagine they're just going to say "Yep, sure" and take their time to change a setting to your preference.

I was told by service tech that this cannot be done. I pressed him on the issue and he went to the back and came back saying that is the way Hyundai wanted it to be. Obviously he is wrong based on what I am reading on the forums. Anyone else have this experience?

Sounds like they are (1) incompetent, (2) lazy, (3) uneducated, (4) don't care, or (5) all of the above. It can be done. I did it myself with the dealer's computer...I saw the options and made the changes. My doors now lock at 12 MPH and unlock when I push the engine start/stop button.

Find a new dealer that actually gives a rat's arse.

I am going to go with all the above. I am going to find another dealer and ask them and see if they say the same thing. I just want to be able to unlock my **** door when I park instead of it doing it for me. Is that too much to ask for? Lol.

That Sir, is why I bought the base model I30. I was willing to sacrifice the couple of trinkets i would have liked, just so I didn't get all the stuff I hated, like full climate control, power seats etc. My last car was a fully loaded Subaru, after about a month of driving it you sit back and say 'What next?'. With my little manual diesel I30, I DRIVE, still would love to get rid of the ESP permanently, but I can live with turning it off every time I start it up. There comes a time in your life when you actually enjoy 'driving'.

Given that exact scenario, its my humble opinion that the masses would elect to own a spare tire. And by an overwhelming LARGE majority. I certainly would have liked to have one in the trunk.

Ray, I couldn't agree more! I LOVE to get in the car and drive! Sometimes I have no destination in mind. I just go and do whatever pleases me. I may be having an onion burger 50 miles away. So what? A few gallons of gas here or there. Big deal. I'm enjoying life AND my Elantra.
