Default Hyundai Touch Up Paint Pens

Has anyone used these for small nicks in your Elantra's paint? If so, do they give a pretty good match to the factory paint?

I noticed that it says cars manufactured after 2010 will have the paint that comes in a bottle, rather than the paint/clear coat pen, which is kind of a bummer...

Yeah i got mine from dealer and have used on a few spots mainly bottom of front bumper and top deck of rear. Its pretty close without clearcoat. Better than a scratch.

The bottle is 2 sided pen and brush.

These things are really not intended to restore the nick to original condition - they are primarily to help prevent rust from starting/spreading. I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Texan is right. I purchased the Indigo one for mine, and while it did seal the chip from rust (essential here in non-stop rainy Oregon) it did not completely fill or conceal the chip. I am sure if I did a few more layers, that would help, but I'd have to wait for the rain to stop.

Oh okay I see, thanks for the responses.

Yeah the scratch is on the bottom of the driver's door(plastic part), so while it won't rust, I'd like to at least cover it up.

to better match the paint. When you just use the paint side it matches ok. Let the touch up paint dry abit. Then use the clear side. Then the paint will be a perfect match.

Whoever on this forum mentioned using a match stick with the square end sliced at an angle is a genius. Or, at least, highly skilled in common sense. Polished up the ol' girl today. Used the tip of a wooden match stick to apply some touch-up paint to a couple of rock chips.

Using my other hand to steady my approach to the chip, a dab in the right spot and it was PERFECT! No clear coat applied. It already looks fantastic. Maybe the white color aids in hiding any blemishes. Doesn't do much to hide the chips, however!
