Default iPhone 4s & Contact Sync

Hi Everyone,

Been have some problems with syncing my iPhone 4S contacts (480 listings) to my Elantra w/ Navi. At the dealership when I first paired my iPhone 4s the contacts downloaded. I tested a handful of features driving home from the dealership and when I was parked at my house.

That was the only time it worked without any issues. I no longer can download any of my contacts or call history, etc. I have tried many combinations of starting the car, having the ipod cable plugged and unplugged as well, deleting the phone from bluetooth and pairing again, etc. (Settings in iPhone allow for Sync Contacts, etc)

I attached a photo of what it says when you press the contact button. After 1-2 minutes after the phone connects the Contact button is able to be pressed.

I have searched around the forums and online a bit and most of the issues I see are with partial lists showing. The next thing I am going to try is making sure my phone is fully charged and connected with the ipod cable too to stay at at Fully charged battery. Does anyone have any tricks? ideas? suggestions?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

So I tried to restore to factory default on the Navi and deleted all settings from the iphone 4s and started over. Same thing, no contacts, no recent calls.

When using my phone to make a call it does default to using the cars speakers and mic and the iphone 4s displays "Elantra" on the phones screen. (Signal, battery and all other features seem to be working)

The next thing I tried was using my previous iPhone 4. After pairing this phone the same screen would appear after the contact button lit up (No phonebook entry). The only difference is the car now shows Recent calls by pressing the send button the touch screen.

Then I tried another iPhone 4s and it acted the same way my iPhone 4s did.

Finally I restored all settings again and tried a few variations with both the 4 and 4s phones. Both do not display the phonebook/contacts and only the one will populate the recent call history.

Starting to think this might be an issue with the head unit... Any ideas?

Go to your dealer and see if they have one where you can link up and test it out. I've had no troubles with mine syncing all 120 or so of my contacts.

I'm going to stop by the dealer tomorrow after work and see what's up. Going to bring both phones too.

So weird... Doesn't even say downloading phonebook. Only that very first time. I'll let you know what they say.

Perhaps 480 is too many contacts for the system.

It worked the first time with no issues. I did try to reduce the number of contacts though. Cleaned up any weird characters or symbols in my phone book, etc

It might have been mentioned in the navigation manual or owners manual that it works up to 1000 contacts, although it might load slower when you have a lot.. Mine doesn't even say anything about loading / downloading the phone book.

Update:

Just got back from the dealership. They couldn't seem to figure out what is going on. We tried 3 other phones besides the 2 I had with me. Several people took a look at it and weren't sure.

The Dealership ordered a new head unit and said it should be in by the end of the week. Might be a defective head unit / defective bluetooth. I'll let everyone know how it turns out after they swap it out.

Cheers,

Since the Iphone 4S is the subject here. Gonna go OT by asking:

I wonder if anybody has figured how to turn on their Elantra just by using Siri..because I swear I have recently watched a video where somebody used Siri to turn on his Acura (forgot what model it is though )

Dealer got the part in early. Came in yesterday morning. Went in at 9am this morning. It took them under 1 hour to swap the head unit.

Glad to report that everything is now working how it should.

On a side note, I might be getting hooked up with an Auto-dimming mirror from my sales guy.

Default 4g iphone and elantra

I am having trouble with my contacts. It will only sync 160 contacts and I have 425. I have tried resyncing, pairing and everything. It worked with all 425 when I left the dealer. They said the iphone 4 NOT THE 4GS is still not compatible, as the new software came out.
HELP any ideas.. It will not sync all the contacts not sure if something is wrong with my navi system and the blue tooth, my phone or Hyundai is not up to date yet on all Iphone 4.
Does anyone get all of their iphone 4 contacts to sync and have the latest software update!? Thanks!
Jack
