Why 90 octane? Hyundai's recommended 87 octane should be just fine for our little 1.8L power plants.

It's what's available here. The only 87 octane is a road trip away according to the pure-gas app.

This tank is an experiment to see any difference in performance, or mileage, and if it's worth the price. I've been running regular E10 up til now.

Also, my Manual says 87 is the minimum, not the only choice, although it's the logical one for this engine.

You think those prices are scary? The great nanny state of Oregon has banned the sale of ethanol-free gasoline for all grades except premium. And good luck finding it because even if you can, it's close to or over $4 a gallon....STILL. The sooner I can leave, the happier I will be.

Furthermore, they're contemplating taxing electric drivers and even hybrid drivers an extra fee for road repairs, since that tax is usually built into gasoline prices. I see how it's fair, but it sucks because it negates some of the savings of driving electric.

You guys make me laugh, come to Ontario we're paying over $5 a gallon for 87 octane gas.
