Sure felt great getting such a compliment from a total stranger. Made my day.
I'm amazed that you allowed a child with a drink in your car :-)

1. Awwww shucks! How sweet is that! I'm sure your granddaughter will remember things like that for years to come!

Well, I'm trying to ease my standards. This one (granddaughter) is a straight A student and about as OCD with her room, Nintendo, and toys as yours truly is with his car. LOL. It's not her first rodeo. I've let her have a drink in the car before. The other granddaughters? Not so fast!

That's interesting. My parents like that sort of stuff, too. My favorite era is 1960's and I would love to have one of those "modern" houses from the '60s but mix it up with new stuff, too.

That's always nice! My Leaf doesn't get as many compliments on the outside design as my Elantra did (understandably) but a did take a coworker home yesterday and she loved it, lol.

Doin' it right. I think easing kids into their liberties is the way to go. My husband still treats our younger stepson like he can't do anything on his own, so I try and give him small tasks to do and work upwards.

I started the new job today and so far so goos. I suspect the wife will be driving my car more often now since I will have a fairly short commute. I have been driving 40-50 miles a day for years. It also worked out so daycare is halfway between home and work.

So far so goos for your new job someguy at noon I was following a Kia Amanti on my way back to work. I didn't know that model existed. First I thought it was a Mercedes.

A friend of mine bought one of those new, an '06 model IIRC. He found it to be an utterly reliable and efficient car - contrary to Kia's reputation at the time for making disposable junkers - and had it for four trouble-free years before a drunk driver took the front end off it.

He's currently driving a Ford Taurus, which last I heard wasn't quite as reliable as the Kia had been before it got KIA'd.

...I found myself behind a little Hyundai car of some sort with "Avanti" badging the other day. Avante I've heard of, of course, but I can't recall seeing the other. Size-wise it was about the same size as an XD-series Elantra (one of my neighbors has one of those, incidentally) but looked a few years older than that.

I see what you did there :-)

Yeah that Kia Avanti or Amanti that looks like a Benz was out about 5-7 years ago. My friend had one. Nice inside too.

This is kind of messed up. It's not happening around my Elantra but no doubt it's happening around someone's.

We got walloped by some seriously heavy rains today and pretty much every single storm drain in the city was clogged by leaves, creating floods at every intersection. A street that runs under the freeway also has a drain that receives a downpipe from the highway above and you can imagine the chaos that ensued when that drain backed up. People had to take turns going through because normal cars couldn't drive on the north side of the road due to the almost two feet of water that was backed up.
