Wow, guys...coming home tonight I saw Wally World's price was 2.96. Our 7-11 around the corner from us was at 3.00. Ethanol, of course. It's 5 cents more for real good stuff (which Wal*Mart doesn't sell). What's causing the lowering? Less demand? More expensive Summer blends stopped? Early present from Santa?

A weird thing happened today that kind of made me chuckle.
Mom wanted a keyboard cover and a sleeve case for her MacBook Pro so I offered to go get them for her provided I could take her car. She agreed so I drove off in the MDX, probably the fourth time I've driven that car in the almost-year she's had it. I get maybe five minutes from the house, not even to the freeway yet and I get a text message from mom: 'Your car alarm just went off!!!!!' The key was on my desk and the car was unlocked so I'm guessing Emma just got jealous that I was cheating on her and decided to make her displeasure known. Why do I always find the nutty ones?

Went to Wally World (yuk) to get some Rx scripts filled. While waiting, waltzed down to hardware/automotive area to kill the required 30 min wait time. Watched, amusingly, as this lady was selecting car air fresheners. Yes, plural. Overheard a cell conversation about how Many she should buy and how she really needed to clean the car out. I immediately had flashbacks of some previous pics on this forum of grossly neglected vehicles.
We've all seen them: styrofoam cups, dirty diapers, containers, empty soda cans in the floorboards, cigarette butts in the floor. Isn't there a direct correlation between a vehicle's interior "aromas" and responsible cleanliness? I guess the violators never got the memo! I can understand a house getting a bit messy due to hectic weekly schedules and size of floor space. But a little bitty car interior? Sorry, I'm ranting. Returned to the lovely Ingrid, scripts in hand, and bathed in her scents of cleanliness and fresh leather aroma.

Hey friends,
I scored a new 2013 Elantra GLS back in August and have been enjoying the ride ever since. No issues at all although I did find the engine a little raspy when tackling hills. But, for my first ever post on this forum, I have to tell you about what happened Friday night: in the efforts to avoid a front end collision, I swerved up and over on to a high curb! My new car was christened...by me! The curb was high enough to scrape the frame (the part of the frame lip where one would place a jack). And, when I attempted to slowly drive off of the curb, I heard a loud bang. The curb hit the frame again nearest the passenger side door. I drove off to avoid embarrassment and pulled over a short time later. Now, there is nothing I can see that is damaged beyond two small areas along the frame lip. One part of the lip is bent inwards, yet not severely. I was hoping that my frame did not flex too much or become bent considering how loud of a bang was heard. My new car! I washed the car today and didn't see any body damage. That's fortunate. Car drives straight, rims are not rashed and the tires are fine. Phew. But now I notice that my driver door is slightly misaligned. Was it the accident? Was it there all along? I've become obsessed by it now. I did notice the misaligned dashboard (after perusing through another related post). Oh well. Better this than a front ender! |

I would run the door issue by the service center. Doubtful they would look under, and if they did, not make any connections to a curb run-over. Besides, how do you know it wasn't like that when you bought it? There's a 12,000 mile warranty on body fitments.

iLabman. Wow, really sorry to hear about what happened. We had a similar incident when we had the Genesis Coupe, but what happened was we were coming out of a dark parking lot and missed the "dip," and instead ran over the curb. Ended up busting open the tranny pan, which is plastic. $1300 later it was all over. ![]() My advice is: follow OkieRich's advice! Have someone look at it but don't mention curbing it right off the bat.

I adopted that term from him. Although there are times my car gets a little funky it doesn't last very long. All those years of washing the family cars embedded that habit into me.Speaking of funky I had a gatorade incident last night that I didn't notice until this morning. When I drink 32oz gatorade I flip the bottle over so it fits in the cupholder but I did a poor job of reapplying the cap. Thankfully the cup holder is watertight and I already drank most of the gatorade. It could have been bad. |
