I've had my 2012 Elantra for 6 days now and loving it! Since it has bluetooth connectivity (works great with my phone), i decided to try streaming with my 3rd Gen Ipod Touch. The Touch pairs fine with the Elantra and when paired, sends music output by default to the Elantra instead of to the Ipod's speaker/headphones. But I do not hear the iPod's output through the Elantra Stereo. Am I doing something wrong, or is iPod Touch bluetooth streaming simply not possible.

Not a big deal, as I know I can connect the ipod to the Elantra via the included usb/audio cable. I was just hoping to eliminate the use of a cable.

That is how I am attempting to do it... But when I press CD/AUX, it displays NO MEDIA, so no way to select MP3 player. I am thinking audio streaming just does not work with iPod Touch, at least not 3G and earlier versions? If anyone has gotten it to work, please post your method.

it works great on my 4thgen iPod Touch. I simply connect my touch to the Elantra's bluetooth, click on AUX/CD until it reaches 'mp3 play' and it works perfectly.

try resetting your itouch (but this i mean turn it off while holding lock button then turn it on) and try connecting. i've had the 'no media' display before and i reset my touch and tried playing via bluetooth and it worked.

not sure if this will work on older gen itouch.

I have an iTouch as well - I'm honestly not sure if it's 2nd or 3rd gen - but it won't work with Bluetooth in my Elantra. The car finds it, but whenever I try to connect it, absolutely nothing happens. I initially thought that it was a gimmick by Hyundai to sell their iPod cables, but if other people have gotten it to work with newer iPods, I guess not. It may very well be my iPod being broken as well, I've dropped it many times and it suffers from several dents and a shattered screen

I've since gotten an iPod cable and a Nano specifically just for in the car. If the Bluetooth/iPod quality is the same as the Bluetooth music streaming from my Android, I much prefer the iPod cable sound quality anyways!

My Elantra actually came with the ipod cable (it was in a box in the armrest storage), so it's not critical for me to get bluetooth working with my iPod Touch. Still, it would be nice to eliminate the need for a cable. I'm not sure if I have the latest firmware installed on my 3rd gen. iPod Touch, so I'll try updating the firmware if possible and see if it helps. Thanks to all who have replied so far. I'm curious to see if anyone has gotten a pre-4th-gen iPod Touch to work via bluetooth in the Elantra.

I've had my GLS for a week now and am loving it! A nice upgrade from my '05 Kia Rio.

Thumbs down iPod Gen 3 bluetooth

I have not been able to get this to work in my Santa Fe 2010. It pairs but cannot find media. I am on the latest and greatest update for the ipod. It is advertised on their site to support the Bluetooth protocol shown in the manual. There is no issue however from my c****y samsung phone.
