Hi I am new to Hyundai. I just purchased a new 2012 elantra Limited (a week ago) and am experiencing the issues below:

1. Steering wheel not straight – a little bit to the right. Need to be adjusted a little to the left.
2. In the morning, first start up, the engine whines for about 5 seconds (kind of like screaming)
3. When idle (at a stop light), the AC is on, the brake is applied, the car is shaking. It has happened once though.
4. I always hear notice a “clocking” sound when idle

I will bring my car to the dealer to have it inspected. I have read this forum and people are experiencing the same. Are they normal then?.Please advise.

You really should take your test drive more seriously. You could have avoided most of the issues you are having now. I know it's a little to late for that, but keep all the issues you have in mind now for your next vehicle.

1. No issues here.
2. I don't think this is an issue, it appears to be normal.
3. Never had that happen yet, or didn't notice.
4. Engines make ticking noises when idle, just don't know how bad yours is. Have you checked your oil?

1. Not normal. Your dealer needs to adjust this.
2. Probably normal. Several of us have commented on a brief howl after starting, like an electric motor winding up.
3. Probably normal. Several of us have commented on noticeable engine shake during idle.
4. Probably normal. Several of us have commented on fuel injector "ticking" noise, although in rare cases it can signify a mechanical defect. Have them listen to it.

Thank you all! for all your responses. Yes, the tickling noise may be normal but I will have the dealer inspected the issues. My car has only about 500 miles now...

The tickling noise and the "whining/screaming 5 seconds" noise during first start up may be normal.
It's always good to hear from new elantra's owner :-)

i know on my other cars, the screaming noise was from the drive belts aging and adjusting from cold startup(100,000km plus)
but my elantra has not had this issue

and answer your other ones
1)nope never had an issue
2)Nope, like said above only older cars with drive belt old and cold startup
3)i have tinyest shake but nothing out of ordinary
4)nope

best of luck

The very first thing I noticed when I test-drove my Elantra was a shaking at idle. (Issue #3) After driving the car for a while in different ways, I concluded that it coincided with the A/C compressor. Since then, I haven't even noticed it. So...

(1) This problem doesn't exist on my car (from Alabama). Was yours made in Korea? (noticed in another topic yesterday)
(2) I have something like this for barely one second when the car starts. I guess it's normal, like others have said.
(3) Not a concern for me.
(4) I haven't noticed this.
