2011 Elantra Manual Pdf?

Hello, everyone. I"m new to the forum, so new that I don't even have an Elantra, yet. We're looking for a new car to replace my wifes aging 1997 Honda Civic LX. It's coming up to 190K, is on it's second transmission (manual), and the exaust is about to fall off head to tail--safety wire only helps so much.

Our #1 pick so far is the 2011 Elantra. We went to the local dealer--Butler Hyundai--and looked at and drove a 2011 Elantra LTD. My wife wants a manual--we've both driven nothing but manuals for over a decade and we're happy that way--so the LTD is out. We're looking to get the base model + A/C and cruise and maybe a few other little things. But, since we drove the LTD, I'd like to see what options it had that the base model won't. To do that, I'd like to read through the owners manual. I asked the dealer and they said that they've 'gone green' and don't have printed manuals anymore. They suggested trying online. Well, huyndayusa's web site doesn't have it and an email to customer support told me that they wouldn't let me see one until I buy a car (???). myhundai won't let me register without a VIN--which, again, I won't have until I buy a car.

So, that left me with two options, find a 2011 Hyundai in a parking lot somewhere, copy down its VIN and register a bogus account at myhyundai--with the obvious legal and ethical problems--or to find a non-official Hyundai forum on which to ask someone for a copy. So, that said, is it within the forum rules to ask is someone would be willing to email me a pdf of the owners manual?

I searched for "owners manual pdf" and got nothing good. If you can remember the post, I've be very grateful. Thanks! I'll go look manually, though. (oh, sorry for the pun)

Wonderful, thank you very much! I've got even more reading to do, now. Since I first posted, I've been going through the backlogs of this forum. I've tagged a dozen and a half threads that have been active in the last two months that appeal to me. It looks like I'll have a lot of reading to do! Well, that said, I guess, since we want the M/T, I'll have plenty of time to get that reading done before our car comes in.

It worked for me thanks a lot oh willmore has already seen it......was about to say he will be happy.

Since I have the manual myself, I may tell you I love it, I find it smooth, precise, the clutch is not firm but not too hard, the only thing I don't like it's hard to shift in first and second in winter when the car is cold.

How cold are your winters? We're in central Indiana and winter gets just a little below 0F or, say, -20C.

I was originally trying to get my wife to go with the A/T since the lit says it has the same fuel economy as the M/T and should be about even as far as maintainance goes. She relearned how to drive a M/T on her Civic and, even with that abuse, it lasted until 120K(miles) when it got replaced with a rebuilt one. So, I'm not worried about her abusing the M/T in the new car. I understand many of the horror stories about people going through clutches in 40K(miles) tend to come from people who learned on them or just never really learned how to drive an M/T.

I drove the A/T at the dealer and it felt like any other A/T that I've driven. I'm not sure if that's because it was the show model and had been abused or if the A/T is no better than other A/Ts. I just remember thinking "Wow, I can shift way better than this." That said, my other M/T vehicles are a Honda CBR1100XX motorcycle and a 3 series BMW, so I'm used to really good M/Ts.

Can you tell me if the engagement point on the clutch is the same for all gears? On my wife's 1997 Civic, it's at a different point for first gear than it is for 2-5. The cluth feel is a bit soft, but it's not bad. I prefer a stiffer clutch.

since it is my first manual car since 1992, and that my previous manual was a Ford Ranger 2004 but can't compare with a car. The only manual I've driven before the Elantra is my friend's 1998 Honda Accord and I must say the Elantra is way better, smoother, the clutch is smooth but not light nor too hard, the gates are not too far nor too close but the gears ratio are a little short, my friend preffers the manual Elantra over his Accord. Also the shifter is short, not those long ugly shifters. Since I am no manual pro it is the only things I can tell you. oh! to me the engagement point of the clutch looks pretty much the same on all gears. Where I live winters are from 0°c to -30°c but these are rare and last only a few days. 0°c is 32°F and -30°c is -22°F

If you prefer a stiffer clutch, you'd love my husband's '98 Accord (he has 2 Accords right now). That clutch feels like it's on an old, thick rusty spring. It's awful.

It's funny, Butler is the only dealer around here I haven't been to. I did call them just to see what they had on the lot, and the woman said she had to go physically check (like they can't just look at a computer). Three days later, they finally got around to calling me back. I've had much better luck with Indy Hyundai down on E. Washington working with Alex. They include 5 years of maintenance with purchases--oil changes, car washes, etc. Also visited Skillman west and south. South told me they'd gotten ONE M/T in some time ago. It appears that Skillman is seriously padding their prices, though, as they have GLS's listed for over $23K! You can add all possible options and barely get it over $20K on Hyundai's site. Indy Hyundai doesn't do that, though you will pay slightly more for Korean built ones, but that is true everywhere. I just got a $1000 coupon from them, so you might want to get on their radar.

I think there's an update that causes the transmission to shift smoother, though in three test drives and one rental, I've only had smooth shifting ones. We're hoping to hold out to try a manual, but I'm not going to be disappointed if I get the A/T, and may opt for that anyway. Did you try the "manual" shift feature of the A/T? I couldn't bring myself to do it, because I was afraid I was going to ruin it without a clutch!

A couple weeks ago Avis in Castleton had an GLS A/T to rent, if you want to spend more time with it. It only had the popular package (which means it was bottom of the line A/T). I thought it was awesome. The Elantra comes already loaded with so many standard features that even at the Popular Package level, it's still a great car. I actually prefer the way the GLS drives as compared to the Ltd.

You can go to www.hyundaiusa.com and put together the different packages and see what is in them. Let me know if you find that M/T. I promise not to snatch it up before you do, because we're waiting 'til about December to buy anyway!

LOL same for my roommate's 1998 Accord, feels like a spring.
