Hello everyone!

I have a 2011 Elantra GLS with the Preferred Equipment Package (bluetooth, iPod cable, etc.). I have no problems using my 3rd gen iPod touch with the car stereo, it integrates well with my steering wheel buttons. When I push the RDM button on the console, it will randomize my playlist. However, after I shut off the car and turn it on again or complete a phone call over the bluetooth system, the RDM button will not be on and it will play straight through my playlist until I push RDM again. Of course, instead of playing through the initial randomized list, it creates another randomized list every time the RDM button is pushed.

Anyone else experiencing this? Is this a bug in the system? And if so, how might Hyundai "fix" it?

Thank you,
Geoff

I've noticed the same thing with the USB. Combined with the all-over-the-dashboard push button folder navigation, it's not one of the car's finer design points.

Ditto here.

Not sure about Ipod operation, but random on USB seems to favor the first folder...like it'll jump to Folder 1, Song 2 when random is set, then move on to Folder 1, Song 3, skip to a few other random folders, then back to Folder 1, Song 3...and so on. Sometimes resetting random will kick it out of the pattern, but on the next startup, it's right back to the same thing.

I doubt they'll see either as motivation for a firmware update, but it would be nice.

There are several minor, annoying things about the interface and operation of the stereo (especially with the factory Nav system) that could easily be remedied with a new firmware update but I wouldn't hold my breath on ever seeing one. I would guess the only chance of any of these gripes being fixed is if someone can get their hands on the current firmware file and then hack that. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that either but who knows...at this point I can't even find the owner's manual for the Nav system anywhere online let alone the system software. Someone in this forum did post a link for the European Elantra's software/manual website but that's useless for us in North America. In Europe the Nav/stereo controls are made by Navteq for Hyundai Europe I believe.
