Warranty Front End Alignment?

Long story short.
At 1000 miles one tire was found to be defective. Conti Procontact.
Dealer pointed out Hyundai does not cover the tires, go to a Continental dealer. In the end pro rated for 50% cost me $
100.00.
Now the car pulls and when the steering wheel is straight the car car does not drive straight, two different issues.
Dealer claims tires need to be rotated and alignment may not be covered. Also it maybe another defective tire. Seems to me all of this should not cost me anything. It is at the dealership today and if I get a bill I will call Hyundai.
Anyone have this type of issue with the warranty?

There's a detailed warranty schedule for your car. I can't fiind it now.

If you look in the wandering thread a pdf has been attached for a tsb for aligning and checking all the tires. Tell them your car is pulling and show them the tsb and have them fix it under that.

I had a 2009 Hyundai Elantra Touring that always pulled to one side. I didn't do anything about it and when I finally said something I had 30000 miles on the vehicle. I was told the front end alignment and brakes are warranteed for 12 months or 12000 miles. SO YOU MAY WANT TO TAKE THIS TO THE DEALER NOW AND GET IT FIXED. I ended up having to purchase four tires with 28000 miles and had NTB align everything.

Dealer called me tonight and needs another day. Asked about the mandatory 6000 mile tire rotation that I did not do. Oddly enough that is not covered on this issue but is in the TSB and guess what, I have 6000 miles on the car. Claims to be on the super secret machine and does not have the 2011 specs for the Elantra. So he has been fiddle******* for the day guessing what numbers to use. Also asked him about the TSB and he knows nothing about it. He will do me a favor (not his words, but implied) since I bought the car from him and see if he can get all the issues covered under warranty. He said adjustments are for manufactures defective components. So once you drive off the lot and the car is out of alignment it is because you did it to the car,IE. off roading, pot hole hits etc.. Unless they find a part deemed defective by the manufacturing process. He told me under the car looked good and no signs of damage, so it looks like he can "help" me.
They are douche bags. This is not the first time they made claims of doing me a "solid". After reading that 17 page TSB I doubt very much this dealer has the required equipment to satisfy the TSB, it also must be documented and I will never know what the before and after numbers are.
We will see tomorrow what the out come is.

No specs to align ... thats a plain old cop out.. common sense applies with making a car straight, just getting somebody who knows what to do and do it right..

Here,, use this,,, screw the red & greens --

rears ---> -0.5 camber both side, +0.04 toe each side for total of +0.08

Front ---> -0.5 camber, no excess spread,,,, caster is what you got,, +0.04 toe each side, total +0.08...

Hows that for straight... give these numbers to goof offs and tell them you want to see matching finish print off.

What I learned.
Alignment is not automatically a warranty issue. See my above post. Drifting due to radial pull is not covered and can be corrected by rotating tires, which is not covered by warranty.
The real numbers for the 2011 Elantra are below. The dealer got them withing the range and the car seems ok, but the real test will be when more miles can be put on it.

Camber
Front -0.5 ± 0.5° Rear -1.5 ± 0.5°
Caster
Front 4.10 ± 0.5°
Toe, total
Front 0.12 ± 0.2°
Rear 0.50 ± 0.30°

Toe, individual
Front 0.06 ± 0.1°
Rear 0.25 ± 0.15°

Front 0.12 ± 0.2° [b]<--- weee bit too much for me,, prefer a little straighter,, I posted +0.08 total

Rear 0.50 ± 0.30° [b]<--- Tell me you aint serious here,,, Toyota pulled similar stunt in the '90s... tires were trash in matter of miles.. WAY TOO MUCH TOE.. I always set them for NO MORE THAN +0.08 +/- 0.02 total at rear..



Toe, individual
Front 0.06 ± 0.1° [b]<--- I can live with that, but ideally prefer less toe though

Rear 0.25 ± 0.15° [b]<--- HAHAHAHAHA,, whos buying the tires

Your numbers is "range of setting".... Lets drill it down to something minimal with no excessive spreads and keep it all parallel & square....

Compare my preferred numbers to to ranges you gave.. mine are a lot tighter there,,, using ranges makes for sloppy align..

Me thinks my align will handle better and tires last longer than the "it's in specs" thing..

For the fella asking about the 12/12 adjustments... should be a book included in thebundle with the owner manual that outlines the vehicle warranty details..
