I got the nav pkg which is supposed to have an external amp. I looked under the front seats and trunk and didn't see it. Any one know where it is? Also anyone know how big the speakers are?

Amp is in right rear of the trunk, near wheelhouse. That is where the signal was tapped to go into my amp for a subwoofer.
Doors have 6.5 shallow mount speakers.

This is one part of the car that I am slightly disappointed with.
They stereo system sounds OK at mid to high volumes, but a lower volumes it sounds tinny or less rich.
I may look into an upgrade.

I have to say I'm disappointed with it too... it doesn't sound much better, if at all, than the standard stereo system on the GLS w/o nav. Sometimes I wonder if it really IS an upgraded system.

At least the doors are 6.5's. I looked at the Crutchfield site. I should have looked there first. Both stores are about 30-40 mins from me. I might head down there (Harrisonburg) in the next few days and listen to some speakers. I wonder what the specs are on the amp?
I think the first mod I will do is going to be new speakers. I really didn't think there was any info on them yet. Glad to see I was wrong...

My stereo sounds awesome with the added subwoofer. The interior speakers don't have to work as hard to produce lower frequencies. Essentially provides a very well rounded sound. I even installed a separate subwoofer controller in the empty plastic cover to the left of the steering wheel.

The problem is not the speakers, but the lack of a subwoofer. The speakers are actually very detailed, particularly with instruments.
The sonata sound system is rounded out with a subwoofer and sounds much better.

Hmmmm.... added a JL Audio powered wedge to my wifes car and it is great. I wasn't really a believer in those, but wow... A friend had it first and he is pretty picky about his music.
Maybe I should get a sub first. It was on my list. One problem I have is I didn't get my Ipod cable when I picked up the car, so I can't listen to my 'test' songs.
They are supposed to mail it to me along with my plates. One negitive from buying your car from a dealer 3 hours away.

Great pics by the way. Good idea for the sub control in that spot.

How the heck did you get a knob to control it from one of the empty spaces? I would to do that to my system once i get it installed.

The covers pop out and you drill a hole and mount your sub control device.
I will say the bass is excellent now, certain frequencies will vibrate the rear shelf tray or the 3rd brake light. I have to isolate whatever it is and insulate it.
