does anyone know if the heated side mirrors come on automatically, or is there a button (rear windshield defrost?) that you must press? i've been driving in unseasonably crappy baltimore weather ever since i got the 2011 limited, and i've had the need for heated mirrors on more than a couple occasions. that said, do the mirrors just come on automatically when there's a drop in temperature? i'm still trying to figure this one out -- the owner's manual doesn't mention anything about the heated mirrors.

if you have heated mirrors fitted they will come on when you switch on the heated rear window. they will not work independently

They give you this little book - Owners Manual. Who knows what you would learn by reading it?

Yea,,, what he says.... Maybe page 4-70, 3rd column at bottom :

[b] Outside rearview mirror defroster
(if equipped)

If your vehicle is equipped with the outside
rearview mirror defrosters, they will
operate at the same time you turn on the
rear window defroster.

cute, tactful response. let me guess, people think you're "hilarious."

sorry, but i didn't bring my owner's manual to work, where i was when i posted said query. hence, i turned to the next immediate source of information on the 2011 elantra -- the 2011 elantra subforum. please do your part in adding to -- not taking from -- the discourse.

good day, sir.

p.s. let me add that i did, in fact, peruse the owner's manual without finding said knowledge on the heated side mirrors. as such, i had no idea that the term "outside rearview mirror defroster" was synonymous with "heated side mirrors," so i didn't pick up on that cue to turn to said page. again, please accept my response as proper explanation for whence i came here to submit my query.

Great reply. And polite.

Got a new car? Have questions? Check the manual first. Still have questions? Then ask.

My 2 cents.
