Guys and Gals, if you are having loss of power, the 2562 code or funny gas mileage, have your dealer check the EWG. If it's not running properly, it will effect mileage. Heat or a possible issue with the turbo is causing this issue. Been in 4 times for same issue with EWG being replaced the second time, yet it happened 2 more times. Now Hyundai is involved as both techs believe it is a HEAT issue affecting the EWG.
I think I have the most mileage of anyone on the YF Turbo forum at 66k. 2011 bought March 13 of 2011. Mostly highway mileage, so turbo SHOULD be loving it. Hyundai wants me to leave car so they can run ADDITIONAL TESTS..........what's everyone's take on this? I have had 4 turbos and have never had this happen. 2 SAAB's and 2 VW's.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I have 50k but those are kilometers. So far so good, no weird issues.
I'm thinking if it was heat related there would be a lot more people out there with this issue. Who knows but hopefully they get it all figured out and you can tell us about it! |

I just got my car back from the dealer for the same issue about 2 weeks ago. I taken it twice for the same issue. The CEL only went on once though. But I was noticing a significant loss of power during initial start ups. Turning it off and back on usually fixed the issue, but then it was constant. Now that they've fixed it, the car doesn't seem as peppy as it used to be. There is power now though. I am at 17k. There is actually another thread in regards to this on here. I'll try to find it and link it in. Good luck and keep us updated.

Yep, I've been having the same issues .... loss of turbo, CEL. Just had the waste gate voltage adjustment performed AGAIN yesterday ... voltage should be 4.00, was reading 4.50. At 4k miles had the waste gate voltage adjustment, at 7k they replaced the waste gate actuator, and now at 13k had to have the voltage adjustment again. Service guy actually told me it's a "flaw in the design". Really???? No kidding.
As I posted in another thread, I'm thinking there's definitely a link with the electronic steering. Every time it has happened to me, it has been while in the act of turning after a stop.

My car is for the 4th time.
They replaced the turbo(and I assume wastegate) the other day and it still didnt fix it. Before that they replaced the boost control actuator, didnt fix it. Waiting to hear from Korea on what is next. I am thinking of lemon lawing the car, but I have to wait to hear from my attorney. |

I think I have the most mileage of anyone on the YF Turbo forum at 66k." Still, 4X ain't right, eh? You might suggest a couple of rows of hand cut hood louvers over the exhaust/turbo area. Sure, they'll snicker and roll their eyes, but I remember when Ford pick-ups had a manual shut off valve betwixt the heat exchanger and the water pump. Laugh at will, yet if you didn't have A/C the last thing you wanted in the summer was more heat in the cab. In the winter you could plug the louvers from underneath w/foil covered insulation and remove it in the summer. The low pressure area in front of the windshield would pull excess heat. Of course the factory could provide a servo to open and close dependent on the ambient temperature and the engine/oil temp. At my pace it'll take me 9 yrs to see 66K. Maybe it's time to pick up the pace. ---------- "Waiting to hear from Korea on what is next." The proverbial slow boat, junk, from China. Good luck. Last edited by bonsai; 11-09-2012 at 05:30 PM. |

I checked my hoses and tightened clamps, but I've had no engine/tranny issues. As others I feel 4th gear downshift at 30 mph, but it isn't that big a deal to me. Speaking of your steering, do you know if it's set on LTD or SE? On smooth/finished/level concrete whilst idling and in park can you turn the wheel w/two fingers pressed against the steering? Does it turn as easy one way as the other again in park on the pad? -- ETA: I wonder how many, other than yourself, have electronic issues and have the nav.
