Lousy service department wouldn't make any adjustments since my check engine light wasn't on and they ran the OBDII and didn't get any fault codes. However, my Torque Pro app is giving me fault code P2565 and I'm clearly having issues with acceleration (OR I WOULDN'T WASTE MY **** TIME AT DEALERSHIP). Service guy said that Hyundai is strict with the fault codes and won't reimburse them for warranty work if they don't show the fault code.
Any advice? I told the guy next time I'm having the issue, I don't give a **** if there isn't a fault code, they are going to have to fix something. |

Well, I have a 2011 turbo Sonata that the CEL came on and stayed on. Drove it and it has no power, feels like it has about 90hp. Seems that the turbo is not boosting. I am about to call and make an appointment at the stealership. I have 49K on the car, original owner, I bought it in Mar 2011. I'll let you know what the outcome is.

Thanks James, please continue to keep the herd posted on the details and outcome.
Did you 'ave a look under the bonnet and determine all hoses up to snuff and properly secured? Last edited by bonsai; 11-13-2012 at 10:46 AM. |

Being a dealer they can afford the luxury of swapping electrical/electronic parts in the process of repair through elimination when stumped. If something doesn't work they can return the part to inventory and use it again or sell it as needed.
Good luck and as always thanks for keeping us posted. |

I talked to hyundai USA today and they called and talked to the service manager and then called me back. Everybody appropriate(according to Hyundai USA) is working on getting my car fixed and the dealer is going down the right path. I think he listed 4 different groups working on it(USA and Korean engineers were 2 of them). He said if the ECU doesnt fix it the dealership will be willing to talk about swapping me into a new car or possibly buying me out(my preferred deal). |

Just got back from dealership and the new ECU did not fix the issue. They have some more parts they are going to try to replace although i dont have a clue what those parts may be since they have replaced everything else.
I told the service guy I have been working with to get something figured out by next Friday(day after Thanksgiving) or I would be up Monday to talk to the GM of the dealership about them buying the car back from me. |

I guess I should have started my own thread.
Dealer replaced the entire wiring harness forward of the firewall and said that appears to have fixed it. Now, I dont for a second believe thats really what it was because they were throwing so many parts at it for 3 weeks, but we shall see. I plan to flog it for a tank of gas(at least) to see whats up. I still may get rid of the car though. |

What dealership are you going through? I live in Alton, and work in Manchester, and looking to buy a Turbo Sonata as soon as I can sell my Genesis Coupe. I bought my Gen Coupe over in Fairview Heights, but the one in North County is actually closer. I wouldnt mind finding a dealership thats familiar with some of these issues, just in case something does happen to mine.

They basically threw a ton of parts at the car to attempt to fix it. I got back yesterday, but already had a deal to trade it off and did that last night. Here is what they swapped out on this last visit that lasted nearly a month: complete turbo assembly including waste gate motor ECU new intake(air filter and hose and not sure what else) completely new firewall forward wiring harness All told I think they said it was close to 7k in parts(~3k for turbo, ~2k for ECU, ~2k for wiring harness) and labor. Now obviously that would have been retail priced, but still thats a lot of money. I didnt want to be stuck down the road with that bill if this car screwed up again so I got out of it. The dealer was great and worked through the issue and kept me informed. I had planned to keep the car for a very long time, but after dealing with this issue I just couldnt trust it. I still think Hyundai builds a good car, but I wouldnt personally touch one of their turbo cars again until they get a few years of turbo knowledge under their belts. |
