Hey guys I just came back from Los Angeles and in the trip I got to drive the Sonata 2.0t, it was a very nice car, I would say the overall quality of the car was better than the 2012 Camry.. Especially exterior quality & aesthetic..
But the only mingle I had with it was the off-line acceleration, compared to the Camry, the Sonata 2.0t felt sluggish and didn't rev all the way to redline, but I noticed that once you reach about 60mph it becomes a rocket, it just pulled, pulled & pulled.. Another irony is that the Sonata 2.0t was more refined and quiet than the V6 Camry when you exceed 60mph.. That was a very noticeable difference.. The Camry exterior looked like a piece of slab and the rear lights look like they were designed by 10yrs old children.. Although the interior quality (quality of material used) was better than the Sonata but the Sonata design, ergonomics and ironically fit n finish was much better.. But too many parts of the Sonata interior felt flimsy compared to the 2012 Camry SE V6.. But the interior of Sonata was very nice; ![]() ![]() ![]() My assumption is that expect a Camry facelift to catch up with Sonata..! And don't get me started with the new Altima! It's the epitome of BOring! Last edited by yowps3; 08-27-2012 at 06:12 AM. |

Oh, I'm saying that Sonata is best in class.. When I was in LA I saw literally tons of Sonata's but that doesn't seem to be reflected when I look at the sales figures the Sonata doesn't seem to be selling well compared to the Japanese 3 in USA..

My 2.0T doesn't feel the least bit sluggish off the line. Felt on-par with a friend's v6 Camry. Few years older, but same engine/transmission as the current one.

The Camry V6 just pushes you into your seat the moment you push the pedal.. |

The 0-60 times are identical. Unless u mean initial throttle applications. My wife's 4cyl Camry feels like it is very fast off the line lol. More so than my Sonata. It's easier to take away from a redlight gently in my car. Toyota made the initial throttle tipin very sensitive on that car. But of course after the initial throttle application its a dud.

But the Camry V6 is stronger from 0-60mph.. But then the Sonata 2.0t will quickly overtake.. From 60-mph the sonata 2.0t becomes lethal.. The v6 Camey starts to run out of breath.. |
