you talk about the eco score we have 2800 miles on our car and still have a score of 80. we have the earth showing and only white marks below the earth no small planets. the wife drive is 10 miles a day. we just went on an 80 mile hi way drive and the avg went from 25.5 to 30.1 after a fill up, and we tried 10 mile stretches in both eco on and off it did not seem to make any difference. every 10 miles we would switch from eco to no eco and would get ab out .4 more ave on the gage. for a car that is suppose to get 35 city and 40 hi way and now 34/39 I'm wondering if I made a good choice. we parked the car with 30.1 on the avg and handed the car to a valet. they let it run for a short time to get the info and drove it 1/2 city block and back to us and the avg dropped back to 25.4 they did not even put 1/4 mile on it. I have heard that after we get the first oil change this will change. so I'm wondering what really happens at that oil change. do they have to re flash the computer or some software upgrades? the dealer say wait for the oil change and miles will greatly improve. so what is so special abut this magical oil change. he even told me I can't do this one they have to do it for warrantee reasons. thanks bob p.

JG, thanks, I finally found the hidden settings menu! No big deal about the cartoons, but I do appreciate the chance to change the door lock and headlight settings.
This forum rocks. |

So does anyone know how 'points' are earned? What exactly is the computer in the car looking for to award points? Is it strictly MPG based and how long you maintain that mpg? Just curious to know if anyone figured it out

All I know for sure is that if I can drive just a tiny bit over 60 MPH on the long legs of my commute on the Garden State Parkway, I pick up about 1, maybe 2 Eco points per 18 mile trip. I've been getting about 20 points per tankful.
It seems that using cruise control to do one's acceleration makes the Eco gauge happy, and that may be contributing to my point total going up. I still can't do much better than 34-35 MPG as measured on the FE screen, but it's still rather chilly around here. Hoping for better as spring arrives in a few weeks. |

I find that the Eco Points are earned more from acceleration and braking than from highway cruising. I can get a point in about 5 miles from leaving my house, but if I get on the highway, I get them far less often (unless I am in heavy traffic). Yesterday, I got two on my 40 mile trip back from a vendor's office, which was mostly highway with little traffic congestion. On my trip home after work, I also got two in about 12 miles, and that was half highway (with moderate congestion) and half surface streets.
