Just a heads up for all owners of cars built before June 2011 to call their service dept. and order your part even
if your Check Engine Light hasn't come on yet. It will probably take weeks for them to get the part. Ordered my
part last week and still not available yet. My CEL still hasn't come on but I believe it's just a mater of time.

This is what should be done for the recall:

PERFORM RECALL TF9
YF HEV NVLD INSPECT/REPL/ECM U(11-01-022 CAMPAIGN)
NVLD ASSY BACKORDERED
PART # 31480-4R100-QQH SENSOR ASSY-PRESS

I understand this is causing the CEL to turn on but is it causing issues with the performance of the car in any way like sluggish throttle response, decreased MPG, etc? I just bought a new Hybrid with Premium package 2 days ago and have not seen the issue yet that people have been discussing. I'll give my dealer a ring though.

Correct me if I am wrong, but they have not yet issued a Recall, but have issued a Technical Service Bulletin that will be addressed when you next take your vehicle in for service.

Just checked with Hyundai USA.
There is currently no “blanket“ recall on Sonata Hybrids.
They also checked to see if any vehicles have been impounded (or “seized” as dash claims).
Hyundai could not confirm any vehicles being impounded.

I guess a RECALL is a safety issue and this is a part and software upgrade that needs to be done at the owners convenience.

I just had my new Sonata hybrid in for them to add leather to my seats and they (Holler Hyundai) changed the Module to the new one (even though I had not noticed any CEL).

BTW -- DIS says 44.5 MPG but I have yet to refill the car (360 miles and and half a tank to go).

It is a recall as issued by Hyundai Motor Co. We have seen a couple already.

All,

This is not a recall, per se, but a service campaign. This means that the aforementioned work should be completed on ALL Sonata Hybrids whenever they come in for any kind of service. Dealers are supposed to fix unsold cars on the lot as well.

I'm not in the industry but I think this is how it works:

Recalls - Safety-related, major issues
Campaigns - Important, but not quite significant enough for a recall
TSBs (non-campaign related) - Fixes for myriad issues as reported by customer

The first two are mfr/dealer proactive items.

Again, I think this is how it works just from experience.

It seems that Hyundai is contacting owners, but as Tom correctly posted, there is no overall recall at this time.
With over 4,000 Sonata hybrids sold in the US so far, it seems NO ONE posting on this forum is scaring away any potential buyers.
