Got my 2012 Tucson in September and all was well for the first 750 miles. About that time the breaks stated squeaking every morning very loudly leaving the garage. It diminishes but there is some residual squeaking during the day. I went in for an oil change at 1000 miles and told them about the loud squeaking so they did the 3500 mile service which I suspect just means they looked at the breaks real quick. They told me is was condensation. I don't think so. The breaks sound like they have 35,000 miles on them. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hello Phil?
Rust never sleeps, slight rust can form on your disk brake rotors overnight. Moisture, water vapor, fog and rain can cause it. Backing out of the garage, I can hear a slight scraping sound as that overnight rust breaks off of the brakes. Your squealing sounds worse than normal. Make them listen to it at the dealer. It is too soon to need brakes. There is a 'wear indicator' attached to the brake pads. An arm of metal that hits the rotor, when the brake pad wears down. That arm could be bent in, toward the rotor, warning you too soon. Go to another dealer if they will not repair it. |

Hi lvphil702,
i have 2012 IX35, had similar issue, brake was "SCREAMING" loud in morning, when everything is cold, gets a little bit better when the car warms up. But SCREAMS away when applying brake bringing the car near complete stop. My dealer "cleaned" the brakes and told me noise is gone, as soon as i jumped on the driver seat trying to leave the dealership, hear the very same noise, quickly reverse back into the dealership and give 'em the look. Then they put a technician with me for a test drive, i showed him what noise i was talking about. His expression changed immediately, we head back to dealership. These changes were booked in: All four brake pads change + Both front rotors change After the change, there is no more sound, except the very normal morning cold start but a gentle noise and very short, must be the condensation your dealer was talking about. Plus, the old brakes cough up too much dust, new ones, there isn't any visible to me =) You might wanna go back to the dealership again and show them the noise then get them to change the brakes. |

Look like for now my issues are fixed. Took the Tucson back in at 1800 mikes and had an iphone movie of the brakes from that morning. lol They did a real inspection this time not just some quick test to see if they were at spec. They found possible "debris" on one of the pads, took everything apart, cleaned and sanded surfaces as the report says. I heard nothing as I left the dealer but the real test was with my wife the next morning. No noise and she now says that the brakes grab "correctly"...whatever that means to her!
