Has anyone experienced this problem with their Smartkey?

We have a new ix35 with Media pack and Smartkey. The Smartkey regularly fails completely - there is no response at all either by pressing the door handle button or the key fob. The only way to get in is to take out the small metal key and insert it into the door lock and turning it, then the car has to be started by inserting the key fob into the socket in the console box. Both fobs are the same, and it is not a battery issue - the car is only months old. The car would reset itself to normal usually quite quickly after that, until the next time, which could be in a few days time. When it happens it is like the car is in shutdown mode - all electrics (lights, alarm, etc. ) are dead.

The dealer has changed the door key latch/electronics, but to no avail. They are a bit flummoxed, but we are getting frustrated at the inconvenience this problem causes.

Anyone has any experience on this issue?

Hi, I had similar problems with the remote key not being recognised when I press the door handle buttons. I found that if my iphone and key fob are in the same trouser pocket they seem to interfere with the signal.

Not sure if this helps.

Cheers

Yes, I had the exact same problem within the first month of taking the car..
The interior dome lights and everything not working points to 1 thing - fuse.

In the interior fuse box, under the driver side (I think your driver side is the same as mine ?) the top middle, there is a sort of "catch" that is covering 2 fuses. This is called the "memory latch" or something in the manual.. That came loose..

Just push it till it clicks again.. no problems after that..

Thanks for the reply. I had worked it out myself it was the fuse (no thanks to the dealer) and had re-seated the fuse properly since I posted this thread. Seems to have worked ok since!

Default smart key problem

My 1x35 (it's about 2 years old, 24000miles) has suddenly cut out on me on 2 occasions within a 3 day period. The problem is the smart key. I had to coast to the side of the road(dangerous), leave the car, lock it and unlock it before it would start again. I'm thinking it might be the key battery thats needing replaced. Anybody else experienced the same problem?

This happened to me on 3 separate occasions, the last time whilst I was traveling at 110km/hr. It has been back to Hyundai on each occasion and they can't find anything wrong.
The car is still under factory warranty and they advise me that they will charge me for any further diagnostic investigations. I wish I hadn't bought a Hyundai now. The service people are rude and do not understand how dangerous it is for the car to suddenly die on you whilst driving at 110km/hr. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do next?
