Radio pain to use when you don't subscribe to XM

I have a 2013 Sonata.

Radio mode is changed in 1 direction from FM1 > FM2 > AM > XM1 > XM2 > XM3.

If you are at FM2 and you want FM1, you have to push the radio button 5 times! What a waste of time.

Is there a way to get rid of the XM channels?

I find that when you ask for something stupid (like a well chiled vodka martini) it will change to the worst AM radio station in a foreign language it can find! Thats what you get for smart mouthing your car!!!!
Well, that settles that age-old question once and for all, then. Cars are females!

I was getting all excited that there was another "hidden" feature to my Red Sled.

However, I cannot get my radio to do this either.

The bittersweet reality of owning a 2011 MY.

Really!!? I have spouted the theory that the older cars would accept a newer 2012-up radio. Now I may have to buy one and stick it in the sled, as my radio (although working fine) kinda irks me bc of the small display.

Charles I have to ask....what was the outcome? Any improvements (i know the BT stacks are newer) or drawbacks?
And most importantly, would a retrofitted 2011 still be compatible with your kick-a$$ upgrade?

Curious minds want to know

Well I believe that I may have to scour some yards/eBay for a cheap 2012 radio. And I always forget about the Mute button on the radio since its usually up on 29 (I tend to play it LOUD)

Charles....you have earned my future business! Just don't close up shop until after Christmas OK

I just looked online at images of the 2013 GLS radio. I can't believe that Hyundai eliminated dedicated buttons on the face of the unit for FM/AM/XM. My 2011 GLS has dedicated buttons. Not having them would be very frustrating!
