Does anyone know when these will be released? I know they released the 2013s in April, so is it likely that dealers will begin getting the 2014s in April as well?

I don't know much yet about or cars so bear with me on this...... I may be wrong but the Korean tails can be bought online now, right? But you need to wire them yourself? If they put them on the '14 US version would their be a benefit to waiting for them? Maybe price and/or simple plug-in install??

Yes, the Korean tails can be bought online now, and yes they require rewiring to work in a US Sonata. I suppose there would be benefit to waiting for the '14 Sonata tails, but that is assuming that they don't change anything else about them. It is possible (though I have no idea how likely) that they could change the plug or some part of the structure that would make them less than plug-and-play with a '11-'13. It's a gamble I suppose, but if you're not in a rush, then it may be worth waiting.

Found this article here
2014 Hyundai Sonata | Best Cars Reviews

"Expectations of the new 2014 Hyundai Sonata are great, what is certain is that the model will be based on the same philosophy. The design will be an evolution of the previous design of the Sonata. The changes occurring in the headlights and new fog lights. The grille of 2014 Hyundai Sonata will be changed. The current “cascading waterfall” gets a little more subtle design. Thus, a new 16-spoke alloy wheels."

I'm not to sure I like this. I must see this in person and if it doesn't have cooled seats and p/fold mirrors I'm keeping mine.

jim, that kinda looks like the Hybrid.... im guessing they maybe just gave it a wrong description.....

and GP, you sure do love your tail lights don't you? lol.... I wanted to get the clear smoked design but they only sell the red lens ones here .... so im going to buy some other LED tails and modify them to make them "unique" ....... since more or less a lot of things on my car were custom made

What my dealer told me when i was going in for an oil change this weekend was they are going to start bringing them in (14's) the next couple of months. they were getting alot of 13's off the lot when I was there. He said there is not much difference in the 13's and 14's just slight change of grille and lights.. But the 15's will be different from the drawings they have seen.

This update will be very much like what happened with the old NF and EF Sonatas. New grille, slight update to the interior (electronics, materials, lighting), and maybe a few tweaks to the powertrain (i would think they will try to squeeze a few more MPGs from the 2.4l, 2.0 may see a small HP bump) but it will be very minor.

Don't look for things like cooled seats, HID lights, or AWD. Those are the territory of the Azera and Genesis.

If you need a good analogy, think Apple and the iPhone. There is always the "new" phone, then 2-3 years of slight updates (4, 4s, then 5).

Personally, I like the current YF design and think it is aging well. I haven't seen anything re the '15 Sonata but this article says it will be less expressive than the current design. IE Camcord-bland.

Here it is almost September and I still don't know what the 2014 Sonata options are going to be or what it will look like. I can find out anything I want about the 2014 Optima which is probably what I am going to get. There isn't a thing I would need to do to that car. It's all standard or optional on the 2014 Optima. Why is Hyundai keeping the 2014 Sonata such a big secret. I would think the 2015 Sonata would be the big secret.

I see the local dealers are advertising sales to make room for new inventory. Have to believe the 2014s are in transit as we speak.
A sales rep I just asked (90-miles from plant) has "only heard" Late October, which is a bummer after jimrinflorida got me all hyped-up about trading.

There's the Trade-in Value part and then the Amount Off Sticker to make a Purchase price.
Trader's for 14's will need some "best data sources" for what to demand as Trade-in and How Much a Dealer may come Off Sticker (excl'ing the absurd $300 Nitrogen Tires, $300 pin stripe, etc).
I'm fearful 1st Release cars get less negotiating Leverage, but we'll see.

All of my comments are just my opinion so make of this what you like.

If Hyundai reveals the new 2015 model at the Detroit Auto Show in January, then the 2015's will likely be on the production line early next year. That means the 2014 models will have a shortened production run. I am basing my comments on the fact the rumor mill has Detroit as being the intro and if Hyundai follows the same schedule they did when they revealed the 2011 model in January 2010, then expect the 2015's be in production pretty soon after the announcement.

Also, I would expect discounts on 2014's to be high next year once the 2015 is announced. I know I helped my daughter buy a 2010 Sonata after the 2011's were announced and she got a smoking deal on that car unlike anything you see on today's cars. She paid about $14K for a brand new GLS.

Makes sense - always the greatest deals on the older model when the redesigned model comes out. I had bought my daughter an 04 Mustang right after the redesigned 05s hit the showrooms - granted used but it was only nine months out of the showroom with roughly 10K miles. I think I paid around $12K back then for what was nearly a brand new vehicle. But it was the old design at that point.

It all depends on how they produce the 2014. If, like some mfg's, Hyundai decides to abbreviate the production (roll out the 2014 models later than normal and only produce 1/2 to 3/4 of a normal production run), then the supply of cars will be much less and they will not discount as much.

Also, they could skip the 2014 year entirely and go right to the 2015. In that case, the 2013s will continue up to the start of the 2015 run and they will discount what remains.

Remember, the Montgomery plant is running over capacity builiding Sonatas. So excess inventory is not a problem for Hyundai, which is keeping them from having to throw piles of cash on the hood to move metal.

I'm a little confused here. Sonata sales have declined year to year. I got $2,500 in rebates on my Sonata I bought a month ago. However, Elantra sales are way up and now outsell the Sonata.

Bluntly stated I think the styling is getting a bit stale even though I own one. That grill needs to be changed for sure.
