Need help finding tires

It's the Tire Pressure Monitoring System. It's in all four tires and monitors in real time the tire pressure via radio frequency.

I understand, guy. And like I have said, "the only silly/dumb questions are those never asked." We all ask those kind of questions. It's the way we learn. I'm sure most of us here don't want a forum member to feel stupid by asking a question they don't know the answer to.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but he should be able to take the TPMS from his 16" wheels and just have them recalibrated for the 18" tires.

Yes, most definitely. And fill them up to 35 psi in the colder temps as they will climb to roughly 37 psi when they warm up.

The only thing you have to do is swap the sensors from your old wheels to the new ones....no recalibration is necessary.

The only item you may want to buy is the TPMS rebuild kit. This kit is a new valve core and rubber gasket. I know that most people do not use them, but I did to avoid the small possibility of a leak.

Which is why the addition of that "fee" is suspect given the line "they wont work". That was the point I was driving at.

Yeah sounds like a major up sale...it was about $80 more...I talked to my buddy who is a mechanic for Toyota and he said it was an up sale that they should just use the TPMS off my 16" wheels...

$80.00 seems a bit on the steep side to me. I would call around and see what a "rebuild kit" would cost for your TPMS units.

$80 must be their special "grab your ankles Tuesday" special.

I was able to purchase the rebuild kits from NAPA for around 5 dollars each. I had Sears install them when they put the tires on, and they did so for no additional charge.

wow it was SEARS that gave me the quote...ugh..

I went today to a local mom and pop place that my neighbor recommended. The guy wants my tires that I have now so Im going to work out a deal with him...my tires plus $$ seems like a win win....I dont know what I would do with the 16" nexens that are on there now anyway...dont really feel like storing them or dealing with craigslist...not even sure what they would be worth.
