All you need is the USB LIghting cable. just plug it into the USB port and then to your iPhone. On a regular basis i use my i phone touch without the Hyundai ipod cable. I only use the Apple cable and it lets me pick music right through the stereo.

You have a 2012. Back in 2011 the Hyundai cable was required. I guess we complained loud enough because they got it right from 2012 on.

2012's with nav & dimension audio also requires the Hyundai cable.

I have the 2011 Sonata, and when i plug in apple's usb lightening cable directly to the usb port, my iphone starts going crazy. It vibrates on and off constantly. So i guess i'll need to buy an adapter to solve my issue.
