Default 2013 Remote in valet Mode?

Just got a brand new 2013 Sonata, but I have one weird issue. I have the remote start system, and I think my security system is stuck in Valet mode. I cannot use the remote start feature (I don't really care about that) but I also can't open the trunk with the remote.

The small pamphlet that came with it for the remote start, says there's a valet mode. To get it out, I am supposed to put in my key and turn to ON or START and hold the unlock button on the remote for 2 seconds. No dice!

I've tried all three keys I was given, no luck. Any thoughts? I'm about 400 miles from where I bought it so going to my dealer isn't much of an option right now.

Check the switch on the inside of the trunk lock. It has a little picture of a padlock which indicates if the remote will unlock the trunk or not. As for the remote start I don't know as I don't have.

To inject some last-resort, SWAG possibilities here, I recall a Thread where no matter what the owner did he couldn't get into the trunk for something to do with the Valet Feature. Turned out a piece of trunk deck liner material had gotten lodged within the Valet mechanism so a physical "jam" was created that defeated all of the normal remedies.

Good luck!

Thanks guys, and I did see the other thread about the Sonata with the physical jam - it does seem unrelated. I can get in the trunk by using the button on the dash no problem. It's only when using the FOB. I also have the "remote start" feature (which I don't really care about) and it doesn't work.

The small pamphlet on the "remote start" FOB, states you can put it into Valet mode, where the trunk and remote start features are deactivated on the FOB by putting the key in, turn to ON and hold the lock button for 2 seconds, do turn of Valet Mode, you do the same with using unlock.

Also, I did check the lock on the trunk, no problems there as well, it is in the unlock position.
cheers

I guess you are stuck with going back to the dealer!
