215/55/17 will not throw off your odometer enough to make a difference. The 17" tire/wheel combo will only be 0.3" taller than the 225/45/18 tire/wheel combo. I have the Michelin Primacy MXV4 tires on my 2011 GLS in the stock 205/65/16 size. The tires are "OK" in snow, but I would not want to rely on them in snow deeper than 3-4 inches. They would be good enough to get around in a very light snow event, but that's about it. The Sonata has an 18.49 gallon fuel tank. The information in the display is only an estimate and should not be treated as 100% accurate. The best way to calculate actual fuel economy is by hand...miles driven/number of gallons put in. Next time you fill up take the number of miles you drove on that tank of gas and divide it by the number of gallons you put in when you refill. My car usually says 400 miles to empty as well, but I actually go approximately 450 miles before refilling and still have 1 or 2 gallons left in the tank, and I only average 30 miles per hour over the course of a tank of gas according to the average speed readout.

I thought stock Limited was 215/55/17? Which does the community recommend to pair with those tires for my SE? |

Measured compaired to my Hankooks, the 205 blizzaks are about 1/4" or more narrower. The Elbrus I05 wheels are on sale on tirerack. (and a few others they are closing out and they look good) Look for a 42 or larger offset.

The stock offset on the Sonata is 42mm. I'll let ya'll know how mine comes out either Monday or Tuesday, after I get them mounted and installed.

Up here in Canada, You definitely must go with a set of winter tires. All-season is only good for places with very little snow in the winter. Take it from the guy up North. Set of great winter tires will last you a long time as you will be forced to rotate and balance your tires each time you switch between summer sets and winter sets.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I'm still having some reservations before putting this issue to bed.
1) Not sure if I want to go with 215/60/16 or 215/55/17. The former is closer to the odometer for the stock 225/45/18s My two main concerns are comfort, maintaining some maneuverability of the SE and odometer readings. I'm highly considering the MXV4 Michelin All Season Touring Tires. 2) Wheels. I searched tire rack, but I can't seem to find what I want, when I search by car, it only lists wheels for the default size and not the new tire size I want. 3) What to look for when buying wheels. I want to make sure all my sensors work, offsets etc. Can someone point me in a direction? I'm cluless, is there is favorite on this board? |

I found the tirerack search a bit handicapped as well. I use the wheels tab and then search by brand. click on what brands you'd like to see and then search by size through there.
There's a lot to search through by doing it tha way but you can get through them pretty fast. I wonder if you can search by price range??? I think they should hear complaints about their search function, maybe they'd be able change it better so you could input a certain rim measurement set, and have it search for all wheels matching those parameters. Ive got a Jeep with 1ton axles and searching for wheels by vehicle would NOT work out so well.
