I've got the SE 2.0T and I'm one size shorter for the 16" wheel. stock should be 205-215/65R16, I'm running a 205/55R16 tire. My only problem is finding rims for it that will fit. I can't seem to locate any steelies or stockers that I can come up with for a decent price.
Pacer brand 16's "will NOT" work on the SE.

Anyone got a link to steel rims for a good price?
or knot what aluminum size's fit?

Why 205 and not 215s? What rims do you currently have no? what did you do with your 18 rims and tires.

I got a great deal on the 205/55R16 Blizzaks. I just got these from tire rack since another member is running the same wheel on there 2.0T
Elbrus I05 Silver Painted

I am taking off the stock 18's and "slide-kooks" for the winter. I may put them on after winter or sell them off and get some 20's.

Just spoke to a guy at Goodyear, he says changing to 16" will alter the handling characteristics of the car immensely. He recommended "Eagle F1 Asymmetric All Season tires." He said if I didn't like them I should consider a wheel+tire 17" package. What do you think?

Did you tell the salesman you were trying to pull .9g in the snow and ice? Of course you didn't. He just wants to sell you some very expensive tires. If you are driving slow and cautiously in bad weather / road conditions then you won't be considering race track needs. The posters that are happy with their snow traction from lower priced wheel and tire packages will give much better advice than the greedy salesman that tried to steal your wallet. IMHO. Go with the 16's and enjoy your traction and savings.
Tirerack.com has all the answers to what wheels will work.

I want All Season Grand Touring Tires.
I would have to buy wheels, too. If I stick with 18" will I be okay with 245/50-55?

I've seen posts online with people who fitted 50s successfully. What do you think?

I'm 45 or 50s for the Michelin Primacy MXM4. What do you think?

I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a 45 Michelin Primacy MXM4. What do you think?

I run those in 215/55/17 on my YF. I would not want to depend on them in the snow or ice, unless we are talking on very rare occasions. They are really good otherwise. Are you looking for snow country tires or something else?

Yes. Ratings arent too bad for snow and traction the MXV4 is rated better but available in 225 size. I like in Upstate NY, we get snow. I just want something to replace my horrid Hankooks which will give better comfort ride and snow traction, all season, I wouldnt have to touch anymore.

My 2011 GLS cam with 16 wheels stock, they all do unless you get an upgraded package. We had some crappy snow and thick slushy roads last year, I was running the tourenza tires in 215/65R16 and they were great all around tires with minimal road noise.
There's absolutly nothing wrong with running a 16" wheel on the SE or Turbo model. It's no different than putting a 19" or 20"+ set on your car if it's what you chose to do. Putting 16's on the SE or Turbo can be done if you use the right width, or offset wheel/tire combo. Running a size shorter tire will only effect the speedo and RPM range of the trans (and not by much).
For me, I want a taller side wall for the snow season which has already produced some really crappy streets here. ( it's like random little curbs all over the roads) They also won't be on most of the year so why spend a bunch of un needed cash on wheels that are meant to ran in crappy conditions. I got the 205/55R16 Blizzaks for $250 off craigs list (still had nibs on them) I got 16" wheels on special from TireRack for $80 a piece. (comes with lug-nuts, centering rings, center caps and lug adapter for $379 shipped. That's a total of $629 complete. (Ive got a mounting deal squared away already) Both sets will last longer and I'll have confidence/piece of mind when driving in the right weather conditions.
