I own a 2012 Hyundai Sonata SE that has 18" wheels. I am considering going with 20" wheels and tires. Is there any problem with the stock SE suspension handling 20" wheels? Also, what about the speedometer reading correctly due to the size change? Is there anything else I need to be concerned with if I go with 20" wheels and tires? Thank you!

Thanks for the help and info. By the way... Beautiful car and congrats on car of the month. Well deserved! I'm still tossed with going with 20s x 9. I have been reading about people going with 19s and have rubbing in the rear... I hope I'm mistaken about that. Take care!

If you don't want to do any modifying to prevent rubbing, I wouldn't recommend anything bigger than 20x8.5 with +38 to +42 offset on 235/35 or 245/35 tires. Once you exceed this, you are going to have to cut/shave some of the tabs front and rear to prevent rubbing.
With any car, the more aggressive your setup is, the more issues and modifying you will need to do to make them fit right. |

Thanks for the info... after doing some research as well as your information, I think I may go ahead and go with 19's rather than 20's. I think I'll be safer going that direction. Thanks!

I'm looking forward to seeing those 9.5's all around Merf.
I just put some staggered 20x9 and 10.5 on my Coupe. Looks so mean with a 285 on the rear...11.5" of rubber contact...lol. EDIT: Avatar updated with teaser pic...really need to set up my garage soon, slacker...lol. Last edited by Mod King; 11-27-2012 at 04:54 PM. |

Exactly...between Merf, Necos and myself, we've had just about every combination of wheels and tires you are considering. Just stay within the specs I outlined to avoid issues. Last edited by Mod King; 11-27-2012 at 04:55 PM. |
