2011 Harbor Grey Sonata GLS

I've noticed with my 2011 GLS when making turns at night in areas with no street lighting, that the areas off both the left and right front of the vehicle (the areas into which I'm turning) are not particularly well lit. Add to this the visibility impairment posed by the thick A-pillars and the side mirrors, and I get a less than desirable nighttime turning experience at intersections. I don't have fog lights, so I don't know that if I did they would make a difference. This isn't a big issue where there's street lighting, but in unincorporated areas, turning becomes a more risky business.
Has anyone else noticed this? Is there anything I can get to improve the corner lighting? |

My experience is that Fog Lights definitely Spread Light Left/Right of your path - In theory it Ought to Help, but without taking a Demo Low-Light-Ride in the new Sonata you're thinking of trading for, who knows?... No "after-market" clue if the Fogs via a Test Drive don't help your issue.
My issue is related: I get a Black Veil over the top-Half of my windshield in Low-light areas and the Veil-line dips more when going Down an incline - Drives me NUTS!! -- I actually Cannot see the street Curb ahead, shrubbery, etc., within the Veiled windshield area, and do Not Understand WHY more people haven't experienced/Posted the same! Good luck.

What I have noticed is, the low beams are VERY well aimed down the road. Probably some of the best focus I've seen on original equipment headlights. With that said, it actually is a little too focused. My wife and I have both noticed that if we are starting to go up an incline, the lights cut-off point is so abrupt, we have almost no vision up the hill. Usually, have to go to high-beams at that point. I am sure you are noticing the same thing horizontally that we are seeing vertically. I do agree with the others, though. If fogs were on, it does illuminate the sides, very near to the vehicle, in the vehicle's turning path.

I got a set of aftermarket fog lights that came with type 881 bulbs and a very good harness with relay from eBay. $64..
Really helped a bunch. Installation for me was an hour. It wont hurt to get a set and install them. I did HID on my lows and that helped a lot but I wanted more. HID lows are like 100% better and when I did the fogs it made the results 200% better. HID with Fog lights off ![]() Fog lights on

Just for fun, I turned on my fogs on the way home tonight and the sides were much improved. Maybe you should invest in some, as one of the others posted.
