Default I'm happy with my Sonata thread

I just want to be positive and let others know that my 2011 GLS with about 57,000 miles is still a joy to drive, and own. It can't compete with Lexus or BMW, but it does so many things well, gets really good gas mileage, and is a nice place to be during my long commute. I hope others have similar satisfaction with their YF's.

There is a thread or two for this already...but, nice to have it re-iterated once in awhile. i just mentioned that mine may be going away...but, i will miss it greatly when it goes. a co-worker of mine just purchased an optima...and i'm trying to talk him into buying my parts...the strut bar will fit (we've already measured)...i've got a set of snow tires mounted on aluminum wheels....and some other items...

but, i would buy another in a heartbeat...even a non-turbo model! 2.4 is sufficient for me as i get older!

mine was the first run of them as well. can tell by the 'meep-meep' horn...right after, they started updating them. i've been happy to say...i never had the early issues. no 'active' eco button, aforementioned 'meep-meep' horn, lights on the dash that aren't dimmable and never had the left pull!

It beats the **** out of my old car: a 2002 Ford Escort ZX2.

Scott,

Don't apologize for those other brands. As a driver with over 700K miles behind me, it is my opinion that NOTHING screams "I don't know how to drive, so I bought this expensive car!" louder than a Lexus or BMW, especially the 3-series BMW's. I have owned new MB and Audi, but I keep coming back to Hyundai. There's a lot to be said about value and dependability! Good looking helps, also!!!

I, too, love my Hyundai. My sister used to own a Hyundai (totalled it with about 150k on the odometer). My dad currently has a Hyundai (NF Sonata). I got a YF Sonata Hybrid this year. I am very happy with the car. You can't touch the economics of a Sonata with any other car in its class. And it is a joy to drive, in town or on the freeway.

Hyundai FTW!

I gave myself 1 year w/ this car. I've got almost 4 to go, and yeah, I've been scoping out Jetta Sportwagen TDI's.

Korean cars have gone a long way. So commendable. But some of the minor gripes I have, still influence me to probably go back to my "comfort zone" of a German car.

I just feel "detached" from this car. Steering is too overboosted, clutch sucks, road feel attenuated, road noise higher than I'm used to. The only time I see the fuel-saving is on longer road trips. Mixed driving, it's about the same mpgs as all my old cars.

I was going to modify it, but by the time I spend the $ go get it where I'd want to keep it, I'd already be in the ballpark of the JSW TDI.

Winter will be a decider. Otherwise, adios in the spring.

I like mine as well. I especially like the 2.4 L GDI engine and the 6 speed transmission. This car is really peppy both off the line and when passing other cars. It has the right combination of torque and gearing to get so much pep out of 2.4 Liters.
