Default Oil filter cross reference

I am curious about some of the filters that fit the sonata yf.

Currently using wix 51334, bosch distance d3312 and mobile 1 M 110.

These filter are in my opinon the best after market, with fram 9688 the worst and avoid at all cost.
(filter reinforced with cardboard and horrible bypass valve)

What other brand/model # are recommeded for sonata? Although OEM is recommended, I hate how much stealership charge for them.

There's a writeup on the boards where a member took apart several filters to compare them and I think the conclusion was the OEM filter was as good and better than some of the best aftermarket ones out there. So the extra price might be worth it. I haven't compared prices yet but just picked up the Hyundai filter from my dealer for $7 Canadian, which sounds like a good price to me.

Yep here are the links to Smoke's filter dissections-
The Dissection Of Fram & Super Tech Filters!
The Dissection Of Mobil 1 & K&n Filters!
The Dissection Of An Oem Hyundai Filter!

So the conclusion is that the OEM filters are the best, and they are not that expensive.

you can get oem filters for under 5 bucks each. or you can get them off ebay and the list on our filter is 6.12 from the dealer.... I get them for 4.89 with my discount.

there are other prices you can get them including parts.com and other Hyundai oem parts providers that are online.

Be careful of OEM counterfeits. There are a lot out there. I pick up a Hyundai filter and drain plug washer for under $7 each time I change the oil. Peace of mind that I'm not purchasing fake filters, which Hyundai themselves have said are out there.

parts.com sells OEM stuff. no worries there, dealer your fine, and most OEM parts online sellers are dealers that run an online store. so no worries

ebay is the only one you need to be careful about.

How do you get the tool to take that oem filter off, its too big for my filter tool, and require me to take the whole plastic off and strap wrench the filter.
took me three hours the first time, run to part store and dealership where they don't sell the tool.

you can get an oil filter cup from almost any auto parts store: if you are using an OEM filter its been posted before what the cup size is, just do a search.
